Did cain really changed jds or...

I'm sorry but this is a terrible take, guarantee Aldo took more cumulative damage many times from a long hard sparring session than a 13 second ko loss.

The fact you think you see some big difference in Aldo pre and post McGregor outs you as not knowing what you're watching

bruh, Conor took his soul. his confidence was shook, he was publicly embarrassed in front of the world by a guy he fucking hated, and his aura was broken. the fact that you think everyone who is shot is only shot because of physical damage and not psychological damage means you've probably never been in a fight.

what a ridiculous summary of JDS wins.

Cain
Carwin
Mir
Werdum
Crocop
Hunt

all in their prime.

youd have trouble finding a HW with 5 prime wins that are better.

Crocop was in his prime? The guy's prime was in PrideFC. Same with Hunt, who won K-1 in 2001. Granted, he had quite a late career run in UFC, but no one in his late 30's can be considered prime.

Neither werdun nor mir was in their primes, i can even take mir at this but werdun was cut from the ufc after he lost to jds. That was not prime werdun at all and as i said he won many of those fights
Thing is, it becomes impossible to beat someone in their prime if fans keep defining prime as "that period of time when they didn't lose".

Had someone beaten Werdum during 2012-2014 - then that period wouldn't stand out as his prime any more.

I get it, Werdum did evolve his striking and become better.
But I think it's silly to complain it wasn't a good win as he was out of prime. I think 'out of prime' should be reserved for people who were too green or too old. Werdum was in the middle of his career and had enough experience (16 fights, including a win over Overeem) and was old enough (31)

The amount of beating he took on both fights was unbelievable.

I think those are Cain's best wins.

He started to fight better competition? I mean its pretty clear he's not the same fighter he once was, but i don't think he went downhill as soon as he fought cain. There is something to be said about level of competition, usually the fighters get the worst match up from the ufc after they become champions, cause the ufc wants to create new stars.

Jds wins before cain are very good don't get me wrong but they were basically a roy nelson ( power puncher and not much more ) an out of prime frank mir and gonzaga.

After cain he has only fought against the best and the best upcomers of the division and to be fair he won most of those fights, but he also lost some and thats in my opinion has more to do with his oponents than himself.
You can't be serious. Look at JDS's resume, he has NEVER had an easy fight in the UFC. His title run was legendary: Werdum, Struve, Cro Cop, Gonazaga, Nelson, and Carwin. Every single one of the these guys is a good win. The 2nd and 3rd fights with Cain were nearly 50 minutes of a one sided beating by a heavyweight, obviously it's going to take a toll. People also forget that the first Stipe fight was another brutal fight and the last war that JDS had in him. Ever since that fight JDS goes down from the first shot he takes.

yup. and he got that beating TWICE. not counting the damage he got when he fought Stipe, he really got mangled up.

right now becasue of the 2 beating he got from Cain his chin is gone.

Conor destroyed him so bad he won the interim title fight his next fight and has been a contender and top level gatekeeper and continues to fight up and comers while McGregor hides behind his IG account and 4 year old memories, right? Lol. Aldo has had more MMA fights than McGregor since then dumb fuck.

Thanks for being a casual, the sport survives off dumb fans like you. :D

JDS got beat down bad twice. It wasn't a quick knock out. It was a sustained beating for 10 rounds. You don't come back the same from that kind of beatdown.

It was apparent that he had slowed down in his immediate fight afterwards.

This is my concern for Tony. While Tony is already on the wrong side of 35, I think the Justin fight took a toll that will permanently alter the trajectory of his career. Your body can only absorb so much punishment.

At one point , Hunt was considered indestructible (letting Ray Sefo and Jerome Lebanner hit him square with his hands down). Manhoef cracked his chin, and by the end of his career, he was getting floored by average shots.

So many legendary boxers fall into this category. It's almost as though your body has a finite amount of punishment it can absorb, and after that, your capacity to take damage vanishes.

VVerdum was in his prime for that first fight, a win would have likely gotten him a title fight had he not been demanding a title shot and pay increase on the last fight of his deal. He was cut to send a message. Within 2 years of that upset loss to JDS he was beating Bigfoot Silva and Fedor, arguably the biggest win of his career.

he wasnt even cut.

he just wasnt resigned.

A lot of good points so far and yeah I agree it’s pretty obvious. I mean back then he went toe-to-toe with Shane freaking Carwin and won.

He practically cleaned out the heavyweight division before losing the title. He's always fought the best his whole UFC career.

Stipe was a great win too. I know I'm in the minority here, but I favor a prime/near prime JDS over any version of Stipe. While Cro Cop was past prime, he was fast af and injury free before UFC 103 and looked damn good. JDS took a little damage but still finished him.

JDS is mega underrated imo. At his peak, he could beat any HW ever. I'd only favor a 2 or 3 over him prime for prime.
In their first fight, JDS was closer to his prime than Stipe was to his, and he still barely won.

JDS' cage awareness and footwork is just too bad for me to favor him over prime Stipe.
