I think I couldn't have asked for a better case in point than having Jack and Sinister take different rhetorical-browbeating approaches so close to each other. One implies that I'm a partisan monster for not doing a solemn "RIP" and showing condolences I don't really feel, and the other comes in with a longwinded justification for not showing those condolences to Limbaugh while Feinstein - being a better human being, obviously - should probably get one. Case in point - their people are the good ones, and deserve condolences and whatnot because they're just so damned noble... But your guy? Fuck him. Start pissing on that grave. Can we celebrate deaths of political figures? Well, yes to yours, no to theirs - and here are fifty pages of "Well, it's different with our guys."

I'm going to watch this unfold, but pay attention everyone. You will see a mighty fine tapdancing show trying to hoist the double standard, and maybe my original post will ring a bit more true. They will accuse you of indecency and partisanship in a move which is, itself, indecent and partisan, and hope that your decency and distaste for partisanship will make you act how they want you to. It might be time to stop saying things you don't really feel out of feelings of decorum and a notion of respect you don't feel, because the sentiment will not be reciprocated, and your own decency will be used as a club to browbeat you with.

Have fun everyone. Pay attention. My point is made, and they'll keep trying to drag you into the muck of pages of argument that amounts to "It's OK when my side does it to your guys, but you're bad for doing it to my guys."

Somehow didn’t expect that. Very long career in the senate. I don’t know too much about her specifically aside from her being more hawkish than her own party, which is interesting considering her seat was in CA.

I do wish some of these folks would know when it’s time to hang it up and enjoy a retirement. It’s not only good for the country but for them also to try to enjoy those final years with loved ones. Her situation might’ve been harder because of the decline but it’s a shame it came to this. RIP.

Many of these people are bad, bad people - out of touch elites who will drink champagne in places you were forbidden to go as your life fell apart because of policies they glibly supported buoyed on a fat paycheque and pronounced with political bullshit talking points. Many of these people sat in an ivory tower while you suffered and made it clear they were more interested in politics than your suffering. They fiddled while Rome burned and now I'm going to pretend like I'm sad they're gone?

I'm not going to cheer her going to hell like many did with Limbaugh recently, but I'm not going to pretend like I am sad she's gone. Bye, lady. Not everything you did was bad, but your clinging to power and influence until they day you died says a lot about who you really were. I hope someone who is more human and less a political animal fills your (granted, rather big) shoes after you clung on to power until your dying day, even robbing someone who might have had something to contribute to the political discussion until you literally died. For everyone else, I'll say it again - the mask has been taken off, in this forum, quite clearly. If you don't feel any actual sadness over her death, ask yourself, why do I lie and give condolences? What purpose does it serve? Who are you trying to impress?

Edit: Also, remember, when the most disingenuous actors among us come in here and say "Come on - show some respect!" look at their own conduct when Limbaugh died and ask yourself, are these the people you're trying to impress? What do you think they'll do when certain notorious figures you might support die? Will they be gracious, or will they skip the flowers and just start dancing on the graves? Again, the mask was torn off not long ago. It might be time to consider being honest rather than feigning grief and respect to impress people not worth impressing. Some of these disingenuous cunts will turn your own senses of decorum and compassion into weapons against you, and won't offer a whit in return when they have the chance.

We can skip to the part where "a liberal" didn't do anything. The flag was automatically replaced. A construction company called Bechtel was responsible for the state of the flags and replaced the one that was in disrepair before Bradley took it down. When it actually came to a Mayorial decision, this was the decision:

"Later on the day of Bradley's second arrest, Feinstein announced the Confederate flag would not be replaced again after the intervention of Doris Ward, a member of San Francisco's Board of Supervisors (akin to a City Council) who would later go on to make history as the first black person to preside over that body.

Ward got involved in the issue Monday evening [16 April], after talking with members of the Spartacist League. Yesterday Ward sent a letter to the mayor, asking her not to replace the Confederate flag. "The Confederate flag was carried as the banner of slavery, and is still used to today to represent movements such as the Ku Klux Klan, which attempt to restrict the basic freedoms of American people," Ward said in a prepared statement."

Feinstein certainly did not order the flag to be removed during the first six years of her tenure as mayor, and in 1981 she accepted a donation of 18 new flags, including the Confederate battle flag, saying "San Francisco is proud to fly these flags where both visitors and residents alike may see and appreciate the more than 200 years of America's rich history which they symbolize."

She’s been a walking corpse for years and the fact that she didn’t retire before her last senate run is a fucking scandal. Whoever’s responsible for that, whether it’s her family or her staffers should be ashamed of themselves. It’s been super fucked up and kind of hilarious seeing them wheeling her around the senate to go vote on stuff she clearly had no mental capacity to comprehend.

Lol, if you're going to attempt to add context add all of it. The flag display (which again was restored by a private Company) was a series of flags showing stages of US History, with the Confederate flag representing the Civil War era. Bradley was part of a socialist group who wanted the flag removed. Ward acted liaison between them and Feinstein.

Yup, she was such a blatant racist when a black woman asked her to remove the flag on behalf of a socialist group, she did.

Again, nice try. A lib didn't do anything.
