Dexter season 8 starts now!!

The show went off the deep end in regards to credible writing the past few seasons. Bullitt and I had quite the debate about it. You have two choices as a viewer at this point:
(1) Get pissed off about it
(2) Accept that reasonable suspension of disbelief is no longer an option, stop taking the show seriously as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 show, and enjoy it for what it has become. It's more fun this way, IMO, and I think these first two episodes have rejuvenated the mysterious aspect that Season 1 had with the Ice Truck Killer.

I don't follow very many tv shows (dexter and bb) and I've been watching from the start, so this is nothing new to me. Actually, I LOVED last season as one of my favourites and found there were very few WTF moments. I was hoping for the same for this season.

IMO, they could have had an amazing final 12 episodes with Dexter dealing with Deb and the Miami PD on his ass. No need for guest stars to distract us from the main plot. There's still hope for this season of course, most seasons start off slow while they introduce new characters and build the story.

Last episode was good.

I think she's a serial killer herself.

are u guys serious? what a huge disappointment that 1st episode was.

wtf, did i miss something?

Laguerta and whatshisname (the guy who is responsible for Dexters mothers murder) are dead in a shipping container and Dexter isn't a suspect?? WTF? EVERYONE at the station KNEW that LaGuerta was once again accusing Dexter of being the BHB, she ends up dead in a shipping container with Dexters mothers killer and nobody is questioning Dexter!

Starting this season 6 months down the road was utter bullshit. What a fuckin' joke.

Personally, I loved season 7 but this has pissed me off to no end. Perhaps the writers will redeem themselves yet though...and at least they're bringing Hanna back...

You just wait. Hanna will rescue Dexter from Vogel in the end, and they will happily end up in Argentina at the end.

I don't really know how this season is going to end up but I enjoyed both episodes so far and that's enough for now.

Anyone else a bit irked when angel's sister spoke Spanish and it wasn't even remotely close to Cuban??

Highly let down

But after Quinn called them on the "Cuban" thing, they had to speak in their native tongue, so that the audience would know that they are indeed Cuban.

I understand that. But still. When ibhears that Mexican accent I was like ugh....

This chick should have been introduced a few seasons ago. I think Debra is dead mid-way through the season. Quinn and Bautista will take Dexter down. Last night's episode needed more Jamie.

I think the psychiatrist lady is going to kill (or at least try to kill) Debra and when Dexter finds out he will kill her.

I predict in the end Dexter will have to choose between keeping his lifestyle (vogel) or saving his sister from all the shit she's in, as it's obvious she's going to get caught for all this crap. so he'll take the fall for his sister, along with everything else, and is executed or something.

I would love something like that. I hope the season doesn't end with him just being Dexter. I want him to be caught and known to the world.

Seems lazy the way they swept the LaGuerta murder under the rug. I mean wouldn't the police have a big investigation over the death of one of their captains? Couldn't Deb get caught since it was her gun that shot and killed her? Not to mention that LaGuerta had the warrants for phone records/DVD of Deb getting gas/ and seeing the kill room set up with a chain saw after following the guy who murdered Dexter's mother.

Last season had more WTF moments and plot holes than every other season combined. Even Bullitt ultimately conceded this.

i loved season 7 tbh. 5 and 6 were meh, but i thought season 7 rivaled 1 and 2, while falling short of 4.

i have mixed feelings about this season. i like others think its too painfully obvious. but i also like that she could be pure good or pure evil and we have no idea (though we wouldn't be surprised by either). i do hope the laguerta thing comes back up though, and soon!

Was just able to watch episode two. Ending had a creepy feel to it.

Episode 2 was much better due to the chemistry between Rampling and Hall as actors. All the other secondary lead actresses they brought in (all romantic connections though unlike Rampling) just didn't click mainly because they just weren't good enough actresses. They were by and large tv actresses on genre shows, while Rampling is a legit talented veteran actress, someone much needed on the show since Lithgow left.

A lot of things about this show (and most others) are far fetched.

And even if this was a ridiculously and increasingly unrealistic fictional television show already, I still think you're jumping to conclusions saying it's not understandable, or it's far fetched that she might know about Dexter without having the slightest clue what she's all about or where the writers are going with this story.

Like, you know man...it's just my opinion. My problem with it is this is more than a new direction. It ripples back to the very first episode and puts everything in a new light. So instead of Harry coming up with some misguided attempt at parenting, we now have some experimental conspiracy with a professional of some sort.

This seems more to me like grasping for straws for winding things down in the final season more than a well planned and executed conclusion to an epic story.

Well I think Dexter likely fudged the ballistic reports and blood splatter work OR they claimed LaGuerta stole Deb's gun and had a double death shootout/stabbing with the guy who killed Dexter's mom. Remember everyone thought LaGuerta was whacky anyway so her warrants, etc didn't get much attention.

Come on. We can overlook it for entertainment purposes while simultaneously noting that it's shitty writing. It's bullshit, but I'll keep watching.

Can we all agree that this show would suck without Masuka?

I'll vote yes.

Edit: Coked out Deb was hot.

I really enjoyed tonight's episode. I like the Vogel character on this season.

Did Quinn catch a glimpse of Dex injecting Debra?

No. I don't think so.

Decent episode. The preview for next week looks fucking boss though. I can't wait.

I feel kinda bad for Dexter. Especially towards the end. He desperately wants to be something that Vogel is convincing him that he can't be.
