Also forgot to mention I got a Valeo lifting belt for 19.99...nice leather with padding on the inside...felt nice when I put it on tight in the store...hopefully my squat jumps 500lb like it did for Lusst when he got his belt....

If it isn't an Inzer belt, it's not made from the hide of Godzilla. Therefore, no super-Lusst strength for you.

-played 4o4 3 games half court and shot around....about 80-85min

Bench:
bar-10 reps
135-5 reps
225-5 reps
275-1 rep
315-1 rep....felt very strong today
+new belt:
385-5x1....about 5-6 min rest between sets
-shot a vid of last set of 385
405-0+1 rep....heard a tearing sensation inch of chest....FUCK@#$%%%^^^%%$#@...
started icing for last 20 min.....600mg ibuiprofen....will see....looks like a pec tear...near shoulder

injuey happened around 9:40pm...sigh...

Anyone who does weighted dips for anything else than burn out sets is just calling for injury. Triceps pushdowns and decline flies hit exactly the same muscles and give a far better pump.

went to doc today....actually had an appt scheduled today about which i almost forgot...lol...he examined the pec and said it's likely a minor strain...and said to take it easy for a week or so....and to take anti inflammatories.....sounds good to me....was relieved it wasnt anything worse...when i woke up there was no bruising...the area is still sore and slightly tender....

any suggestions to improve my bench form? that vid is a pretty good look at my avg form....tuck elbows more? leg position?...

your form looks solid...

I like to use a closer grip..takes away from my balance, but gives me more drive... are you using your ring/ middle finger on the far ring?

Perhaps the strain was from heavy weight + muscle fatigue... like you said you did 5 sets of 385...THEN went up..

otherwise, the lift itself looked good...
 
Yea. I had middle finger on the outer ring...I am going to try to work on narrowing my grip to perhaps a pinkie on outer ring...thanks for the tip...I think i generally need to work on my CGBP....
 
Good to hear its not a real severe injury! I can't comment on form as I know mine is utter shit.
 
Form looked solid. It's hard to see bar path from that angle, but it looks like you may be making your ROM longer than it needs to be. Once I hit the bottom of my chest, I try to pretend I'm pushing the bar up and towards my feet. This seems to help me get the most efficient ROM.

Also, your elbows could probably be tucked more, but so could mine.

P.S. That wouldn't have counted in our bench race (no pause). Hope you recover quickly.

just came back from a 4.3-4.5 mile jog...took me about 55-60 min...not too bad...took a 200mg caffeine+60mg pseudo-e+81mg aspirin+200mg ibuprofen..

afterwards did some stretching....my flexibility may be even worse than my cardio and that's saying a lot...

2x10 pull ups ...touching chest to bar
3x10 hanging leg raises...straight legs touching bar...

got a tetanus shot in the left shoulder today....which made my shoulder throb a bit during the run and didnt feel too good on pull ups...

Also, fuck all that running...when I was wanting to get on a PD, I got up to 5miles 3 times a week at around a BW of 230...that shit almost killed my knees. :icon_chee

i dont know if i would have gone for 405....a bit slow at the top.

but i shouldn't really be saying much...

Seems like a couple people don't like heavy dips? You guys being serious or joking? Are they really prone to causing injury? They do seem to really stretch my shoulder to the max, even with no weight.
 
I have a question about your bench form... Not because yours is bad but because I'm curious for myself. I only lift alone so I don't get much feedback.

In the book "Starting Strength", it suggests pulling your shoulder blades together before the lift to tighten everything up and decrease the distance required for the lift. Do you do this? I do but I feel like it puts more pressure on my shoulder with my shoulders pulled back below my body.

What you described there is basically what Dave Tate wrote about in his famous benching article. Some bent-rows before/during warm-up sets helps too. The article is in the stickies.

Got a blister from that crap today ...meh....my calves are really sore...

what made you not go through with the PD?

Esam I think Dips are actually safer than bench...esp when you lean forward to recruit more chest/shoulders....

I do try to push my shoulder blades back and press my lats firmly into the bench...it does help....

I'll work on how I press my weight....thanks guys
 
i think lusst didnt make it the first time because he stole something when he was 16 and it was over the $ the PD allows. and then i think he tried again but said something about the chief hated his stepdad or something so he thinks he got screwed because of it....
