So my Son is on the cover of a local Kids' magazine. The link is here:
issuu.com
There's a bit about him inside. We have another event this Saturday and if he gets matched it will be his 5th fight. But 3 of the first 4 were against the same kid. That's just how it is in the Amateurs at that age. The last 2 fights were very close though:
Red corner for both bouts.
Recent addition to my team is a young fella named Ryan. Ryan has intangible physical gifts that any boxer would want. He's 6'2" and can comfortably make 147, carries a punch, decent hand speed, and hes very durable.
But hes one of the most high-anxiety kids I've ever trained. Like if he shadowboxes at his house in the morning and feels a little winded, he wont come to the gym if it's a sparring day out of sheer terror that he might gas and do bad. And it's not taking a beating, he's done that before, it's just the feeling of doing poorly. Had a Father who chided him all the time about every little thing, who also freaks out at any little thing going wrong. That said his first fight was against a kid with some experience and I thought he did well:
And then this one. Cristian fought again and this decision was pretty terrible. And I dont say that from myself, the gym's host who is also the President of the Commission even said he couldn't figure out what the judges were looking at:
