If they end up booking Stipe vs Blaydes then this maybe makes some sense. But Stipe should’ve fought Lewis. Tuivasa is not even in the top 10, and Lewis is #3. I guess I’ll be the lone Sherdogger that’s not really a fan of this booking.

Because he genuinely does have a chance? It’s HW mate. If Hunt and JDS can TKO Lewis then Tai can certainly put hands on him too.

Only thing I’m iffy about is this fight taking place in Houston. BB will more than likely want to make up for that Gane performance in front of his home crowd.

You think he gets fed cans? I don’t know, he’s fought a lot of people in the HW division: everyone from Gane and Ngannou, to Daniel Cormier, JDS, Mitrione, Gonzaga, Nelson, Browne, Volkov, Blaydes… Lewis fights most anybody. He doesn’t always win, but he’ll fight em.

Great match to make. Derrick although perennially near top the rankings, is very clearly not on the level of the title picture atm. Tai is becoming a well known beloved guy, and in need of a step up in name value and difficulty for opponent. And their styles play perfectly into each other. Plus it seems like Lewis is just trying to cash as many cheques as he can before it's all over so gets him in there to get paid, and for us to enjoy. Checks all the boxes.
