Elections Democratic Party Approval at All Time Low

Thats the majority of our leftwing posters.
But... by posting in this forum... we are metaphorically "sitting at the same table."

There are tons of complete echo chambers to hang out in, but instead here we are choosing to talk to you knuckle heads.

Mate, I know I'm your obsession but not everyone spends their life here. I say this as someone with 122,000 posts. I don't post here during the week much anymore.

If you write down every post of mine all power to you. Not the first time with me, is it?
You have over 40k more posts than him and only 3 years more worth time on the forum. You spend more of your life on here than he does of his.

Democrats could have easily won if they simply ran Mark Kelly or Andy Beshear.

One is the a former astronaut and the other is middle of the road candidate with Kennedy level charisma and sounds intelligent when he speaks(without sounding pretentious).

I like Buttigieg but let's be honest part of the country will never vote for a gay guy no matter how smart and articulate he is.
Or they won't vote for him for things like this and he was horrible with the admin.

Honestly not surprised to see that. If you don't agree with them entirely then you are the enemy. They've done a great job shoving away independents and isolating themselves on a hill.

Still, all they have to do is be slightly more popular than the Republican Party and I guess that's their goal. Seems like their focus is more on watching this administration fumble than actual popular policy changes. And this administration has done a great job of fumbling. Gotta love our political system.

Andy Baheer tried to use the police to arrest people for going to church. Oh and don’t forget this little gem

Good post. Disagree with the last bit though. Its all just spectacle. There is nobody speaking up effectively.

I think your prognosis is correct. The system is cooked. Well and truly corrupted. No independent media, an absolute DELUGE of corporate interest money, AIPAC.

It stands yo reason that the salvation of a truly broken system will not be generated by that same system. Democrats and Republicans both are just two sock puppets on the hands of the corporate monoparty.

Eisenhower warned us about this , and over the years weve all gradually lowered our guard to the point now that the entire system is corporatist, entirely and only democratic, superficially.

Most troublingly, while it seems like there are increasing feelings of unease among yhe American people, of feelings that the game is rigged, these feelings seem to have been channeled through our worst collective aspects. The growing awareness that there is something rotten in the state kf Denmark has itself been captured and funneled into supporting fucking Donald Trump of all people. The worst example and the very distillation of these very same excesses and antidemocratic tendencies.

We need to Jump Out Of The System here. It cant ve reformed from within. We see how the burgeoning dissatisfaction with how things are going was cynically redirected by the real estate conman :eek::eek::eek:phile prostitution guy.

AOC ain't gonna fucking do it.
If I was an objective observer from outer space I'd agree with this take.

Unfortunately, as a citizen and a father, I cannot afford to be that black pilled.

My hope is that the collapse of support for the Democratic party under its current leadership will be so such that the next time a true economic populist is poised to win the primary (like Bernie was in 2020) the party leadership cannot effectively persuade voters to "circle the wagons" around another candidate.

We saw that happen to some extent in the NYC election recently.

He's a Democrat winning in Kentucky and one of the most popular governors in the country.

I'd say you'll have to come up with something more than that.

Funny how they used to brand themselves as a big tent party during the Obama years. That all seemed to go away in 2020

I actually disagree with this. I think a lot of the left is turning on them because they don't believe in anything. I think if a lefty had good policy and fought for all Americans including trans people they'd be more successful. Throwing certain groups under the bus to try and appeal to right wingers did not work. Trying to team up with people like Cheney was also stupid as hell because people associate wars with them. Remember that a bunch of people stayed home and didn't vote. When everyone votes the left tends to win. Give people a reason to vote other than not being the Trump option.
The problem is that not everyone will vote BECAUSE of what the left has become. Every time AOC or Crockett or Omar open their mouths, centrists move right or abstain. The left lied about Bidens mental health. They lied about the border and inflation. They pushed unlikeable candidates with no plan. Kamala was the option? WTF? If you got a strong Dem with no flaky progressive politics, I am sure they could make waves. But instead they continue to push weirdos. The election was lost when Kamala was asked what would you do different and she replied "Not a thing".

who knew that the Dems being Republican-lite wouldn't be the route to popularity? colour me shocked.

I been saying this shit since I've been here. Me and family have been insulted in every way possible, I'm considered "far right" for never letting them get away with it.

You could be right about this. I don't know what blackpilled is supposed to mean - can we just use clear and straightforward, non buzzwords? Do you mean cynical?

I think your conception of a democratic party so chastened by election results that it reformulates into something viable, is possible, but unlikely from my view. Because corporate, moneyed interests are so far invested in the system itself, in a form that underlies the entire political class, not just republican or democrat, any sort of change is going to be short lived before the elite plow these seedlings back under the soil.

In a binary, 2 party system, its really hard to manifest any sort of enduring, meaningful change. Any political issue or dynamic that emerges gets amplified and pitted against its supposed opposite in the other party, and we lose sight of the actual issue in favour of tribalism.

Even just a third party breaks this binary dynamic and allows some level of negotiation, flexibility and evolution of thought.

We need clear and robust caps on corporate- especially military arms manufacturers - involvement in politics. Today its an absolute free for all. We also need to open up the political landscape beyond this binary, black and white, us vs them situation weve got with democrats and republicans. Without these fundamental adjustments, any changes or progress will be subsumed by the moneyed elite.

And I don't see how the powers of the day would ever consent to giving up this strangehold on money and power. Not without serious strife, and definitely not through AOC.

Not for most people. The media covered hard for him here. Also, you can look at how the votes breakdown. The majority of the actual state doesn’t like him at all. He just gets votes in Lexington and Louisville.

Here

Cameron was a terrible candidate but still, what color is most of that map

Oh almost forgot, his kids went to private school while your public school kids were home

That was the nail in her coffin. I imagine her campaign advisors were facepalming at that moment. If it weren’t for GWB, Biden would’ve been the worst president of my lifetime. That admin and its policies were mostly dogshit and wholly unpopular.

It may just be because he was mentally already done. But the border disaster will be hurting us for decades to come. Kamala would have been worse. 4 years of more damage and no action. She had no business being pushed.

It's hard to imagine that she didn't get a nudge by her handlers to say something like that. She was in a weird spot in trying to convince people that she was the right choice for change, but by doing so also had to admit that she's been part of a failing administration that she strongly defended for four years straight.

There wasn't a good answer she could've given to that question, that wouldn't have opened her up to more scrutiny. She was in a pickle no matter what.

One of the many reasons she was a bad pick.

Dems talk out both sides of their mouths. They want everyone to have healthcare, so I would assume that means healthcare that’s worth a shit. Then they willingly allow 10 million + undocumented welfare recipients to the economy. NY Medicaid went to shit as a direct result of the Biden admin and I watched it happen. For example, they only cover one brand of long acting insulin and now it’s on back order everywhere. So fucking stupid. The GLP-1’s they used to cover aren’t now ….. Just 3 years ago NY Medicaid was really good. Lots of people had to change their treatment programs due to their meds becoming unaffordable.
