What a stupid thread and lol at the posters outing themselves as hacks with no understanding of history trying to connect the politics of the secessionist slaveholding south to the contemporary Democrats. Nixon took care of what remained of that connection with the Southern strategy, and with the last of the dixiecrats a little later the last vestiges were gone.

Lol smh there are posters in here insisting 1800s plantation owners were 'leftists'
You missed the entire point of the thread.

They were leftists. I suspect you don't even know what that means.

May 26, 1830 - Democrats passed the Indian Removal Act, which resulted in a series of forced relocations of American Indians ("The Trail of Tears") in which they were moved from their existing reservations to reservations in the western portion of the United States.

c. 1830 to 1965 - Democrats enacted and enforced a series of "Jim Crow laws" in which all kinds of different standards of living were mandated to be different for black Americans than they were for other Americans.

April 12, 1861 - The Democratic party formed the Confederate Army to revolt against the U.S. govenrment to preserve slavery and champion state rights over the U.S. Constitution.

December 24, 1865 - Six Democrats, who were former members of the Confederate Army, founded The Klu Klux Klan paramilitary organization to terrorize or murder opponents of their pro-slavery and pro-Jim Crow laws politics.

The political entity of the Democratic party was responsible for, and inherited the privileges and benefits of, all of the above injustices. It was also Democrats who maintained slavery in the southern states long after slavery had been outlawed in northern states. While no modern day Democrats today support the movements above, many of them are still up to their old tricks of using paramilitary groups to intimidate and terrorize, defying Constitutional standards, and attempting to enact slavery in another form (Socialism). The modern "social justice" movement seems to perpetuate that crimes from decades, or even centuries, past can be inherited ("sins of the father"), so under this logic should the Democratic party be absolved of its history of privilege?

For evidence of Democrat privilege, see below:

How quickly a thread can get derailed.

Back on track. Yes if today is all about correcting the wrongs of yesterday than the democratic party should be blown up. Or at the very least forced to change name..

It's the new norm.

Yeah, Lincoln, a penpal and admirer of Marx's ideas on labour, was a conservative. The states' rights guys were leftists.

You've lost the plot mate

Cannot lose that which you never had imo
Well the plot should be:

1. come across some list some can on 'social justice survival guide' threw together that gave you a little partisan-chub
2. copy paste it into the WR because you thought it was going to own the libs and get you likes from your brethren
3. naturally, have it pointed out that it's a silly, bad take
4. slither away and repeat another day

I'm not saying its a good plot, but that would be routine and expected.

But homeboy doubling down to the point he's claiming not only that the modern Democratic party inherits secession and Jim Crow, but further that plantation-owning, state-rights'-professing, clinging to traditional economic system based on slavery, secessionists were leftists is not only wrong, but it isn't even necessary to try and maintain some semblance of a point of the burden of historical sins should still be shouldered by the modern Democrats. It's like finding the way to be as wrong as possible.

That is wishful leftist thinking, and completely untrue, but irrelevant to the discussion anyway. To whatever degree Lincoln could have been influenced by Karl Marx, it wouldn't negate the fact that the Democratic party benefited from a history of oppressive behavior and your claim is independent of any parallels you could draw between the Democratic party of the 1860's and the Democratic party of today.

That was really just a diversion on your part.

It's not the least bit "silly." It's just an inconvenient topic for you. If we are now a nation of inherited criminal and civil liability (as some on the left would like it to be), it's a totally relevant topic. "Privilege" is a very complex web.

In plain view, and yet Democrats seemingly continue to get overwhelming support from the communities they destroy...

This is a pretty sad display of tribalism. You guys really need to get off this Democrat Republicans bs and start looking at these individual politicians as public servants and not members of your club.

That is impossible. They are tribes right now. Democrats in power clearly put their party before their country, and the cities they run are being destroyed.

You are trying to make a case that some un named Democrats in the 1800s and Joe Biden and the mayors of Chicago and New York and Seattle and LA and Dallas and also the Democratic congressmen and Governors are all the same and are all to blame for oppression of blacks and they are destroying the country because it’s some Democratic agenda. You need to lay off the cool aid maybe.

I don't drink Kool aide. That's all on you, bro.

But your candidate is an actual racist.

So is segregated bussing as Kamala Harris pointed out during the debates.

prove it.

In 1973 The US Department of Justice sued the Trump Management Corporation (Donald Trump was then president of the family real estate firm) for violating the Fair Housing Act. Federal officials found evidence that Trump had refused to rent to Black tenants and lied to Black applicants about whether apartments were available. To prove the discrimination, blacks were repeatedly dispatched as testers to Trump apartment buildings to inquire about vacancies, and white testers were sent soon after. Repeatedly, the black person was told that nothing was available, while the white tester was shown apartments for immediate rental. Trump settled and paid a penalty. Three years later, the government had to sue the Trumps again, for continuing to discriminate.

In 1991, a book by John O’Donnell, who had been president of the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, quoted Trump as criticizing a black accountant and saying: “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. … I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It’s not anything they can control.” In 1997 in a Playboy interview, he conceded “the stuff O’Donnell wrote about me is probably true.”

So he was proven to discriminate against black people in court, and he admitted on the record 25 years later that accusations that he's racist are probably true.

  1. Didn't realize it was necrobumped, but It's an active thread today.
  2. IDK what you want me to tell you, dude's been racist a long time.

Joe Biden helped pass the 1994 crime bill while Hillary was first lady. He just got done telling voters theyre not black if they don't vote for him.

The Democratic party have brutalized and oppressed so called black people, and Indians, for almost two hundred years. You guys hang onto the whole southern strategy thing to claim the DNC changed or something. Yet they were overtly racist going into the 70s and were locking up "super predators"( aka black teenagers) for decades at a time in the 90s.

Its auite clear, in 2020 Joe Biden and DNC are still the party of racists, communists, and terrorists.

and yet, your only evidence of it is from 1973 or something. and apparently involved building managers, not trump.
