Elections Democrat Party dirty tricks exposed

1), the question isnt about total submission to every request, but if even a fraction were accepted due to undue inluence, is that okay or does that skirt the line of what should be acceptable?

2), I could argue that Twitter and social media apps like it are novel in a few ways, but if I accept the similarities to what you decribe that happened historically, I'd still be against it in principle in so far as no content was breaking the law. "New information starts out as misinformation", so im against any suppression against it, especially by proxy from the government.
Not only do they hold legislative power over them, the contractual ties are deep with most of them..
Those swords are long and sharp.

Marc Andreessen was on Rogan talking about how the government funds private companies and uses them to "legally" censor American citizens. I've been talking about this all along. You'd think this would be something we would all agree is bad but unfortunately the cultists are okay with it as long as it benefits their cult.

I've been flexing on you for a decade.
lmao, sure you have lil guy

No. I remember Taibbi shitting the bed with Elon with the release of the twitter files.

You guys use this revisionist line too much.
The Twitter Files fiasco was one of the most hilariously awful pieces of "journalism" I've ever come across. MAGAts are so ignorant of anything resembling actual journalism they actually thought it was Pulitzer Prize worthy stuff, too. What makes it extra hilarious is how Elon treated Taibbi afterwards. Taibbi was willing to lose whatever little was left of his professional reputation for Musk, and this was the thanks he got:

Trump has managed to successfully redefine the concept of tariffs for half the country. When this new meaning fails to come to fruition, I for one am excited to see who or what that half blames for the shitty state of the economy. Smart odds are on the dEMieCraTs with an outside chance of it being the mysterious globalists.
It's so easy for him to make excuses. His cult is willing to gobble any bullshit up.

He could just say woke corporations have TDS, and they're raising prices to make Trump look bad. This is the Democrat's new hoax. They tried with Russia, Russia, Russia, they tried to steal the election, they tried to put Trump in jail, now they're doing this.

Trump will attack any companies that contradict him and reward those that go Goya for him.

No, Jack does not claim that. And Jack is still wondering why you think lying is the right move here, especially if, as you claim, you're not defending tariffs or Trump.

It’s tough man. The nuanced conversation you’re having in good faith doesn’t work with the cult of Trump. The key word is nuanced , they’ll interpret the sentence the way rhey want to

Sorry @Witchhunt Taibbi is no longer acceptable to the Juicy Rittenhouse gang. If CNN and MSNBC didn't report on it, then our genius sleuths on the left will continue to ignore
This is it @Witchhunt, might as well delete the thread
who could have seen this coming?

Elon Musk is part of the Juicy Rittenhouse gang?!

Taibbi lived in Russia for a long time, and according to his own writings the guy was a sex pest. You don't have to connect many dots to see he was probably honey trapped etc.

Days before Russia invaded The Ukraine in 2022, Taibbi was on Twitter calling claims that a Russian invasion was imminent information warfare, baseless, embarrassingly incorrect, and a big PR win for Putin. I guess Russia was just massing troops right on Ukraine's border for no reason? How'd those claims work out?

Dishonest Trump cultists, with their persecution fetish, used The Twitter Files to back their claims that the government was unfairly censoring conservatives, even though that's not what The Twitter Files even showed. That gave them an affinity for Taibbi. It's as simple as that. That's the extent of their due diligence into the veracity of Taibbi's journalism.

Taibbi's defense of that stuff was that he was mixing fact with fiction, and he didn't really do the stuff he said. I think that's actually plausible, and it's still what he does. His game is selling political entertainment, and what sells is this RPG-type approach to political infotainment. Fiscal policy is boring to some people, but the idea that dark forces are secretly controlling society and only you, dear readers, who follow the right sources, know about it. And by voting Republican and reposting pictures and tweets, you can be part of the fight.

Right so providing this useful blanket disclaimer, auto-dispels all notions that there are folks who clearly believe they are above the law, and in essence, have been afforded advantageous
(controlling) positions within the elite governing class In Washington DC, and somehow this gives you the agency to judge others who dare to question the status quo?

Yeah man. The government (D) is great.
Investigative journalism is pesky old infotanement. When he was all up in Bush’ shit it was well deserved, though. R bad.

Are you responding to the wrong post?

Also, is your view that Republicans who are in gov't aren't part of the gov't?

From Taibbi himself referencing the events @HOLA describes:

The behavior he describes is reprehensible. It is also, like a lot of things in the eXile, fictional and not true--I have never made advances or sexually suggestive comments to any co-worker in any office, here or in Russia.

While the events described are not a biographical reality, this is not to say I don’t have regrets about the eXile, which was conceived as a giant satire, whose purpose was to be an ongoing embarrassment to the expatriates who came to Russia to spread the American way. In my younger mind this sounded like a good idea, a cross of Andrew Dice Clay, The Ugly American and Charlie Hebdo.

I'm certainly not saying that investigative journalism in general is infotainment or not credible, but Taibbi specifically has always mixed fiction and fact to craft entertaining narratives that are connected to politics, and he admits it himself. It's nothing to do with "sides." As I said, it's about presenting politics as an exciting game. And it does, in fact, entertain. But those of us who think that actual policy disputes are important find that kind of thing to be a harmful distraction, and it has bad effects. The rise of Trump within the GOP, for example, is a result of a critical mass of Republican primary voters getting into RPG-type politics and losing interest in reality-based policy discussions.

This is not a satirical piece though. It is based on documents that are part of a legal case..
There are receipts.

The point here is that Taibbi's work is not (and has never been, from the beginning of his career, by his own admission) trustworthy, if you're looking for reality-based journalism. He's trying to entertain people by weaving kind of simplistic morality plays and spy-thriller stuff with a mix of fact, hyperbolic presentation, and wild speculation. It has a place in society, I guess (not my thing, obviously), but it shouldn't be confused for a real understanding of the stakes of politics or real news. Even (or especially) if he's telling partisans what they want to hear.
