Debunking volks narratives

You didn't read my post, I said someone was arguing it was closer to 50-45 Islam than it was 48-47 even to Islam let alone Volk, as in 4 rounds weren't even in question, that was either trolling or someone so new to MMA they've only ever heard of Conor, Brock and Rousey before. Are you admitting that was you?
I realised that I read it wrong before seeing your reply lol
I never suggested it was closer to 50-45 Islam then it was 48-47 Islam :D

Volk lost 4 of the 5 rounds lol. It was a good performance but not worth whining about. If he wants to vacate and fight one of the top guys at 155 to earn another shot I am ok with that.

Looking at Yair's performance against Emmett, I'm not sure Volk beats him tbh. He may not even be a champion by the time he could have the opportunity for a rematch.

Least your not batshit insane, 48-47 was the right score, fair play to Islam he won. End of story now it's on Volk to go away defend the 145 pound belt 1-2 times then provided Islam's still champ ask for the rematch, a lot of people myself included would like to see it.

Yair's loss to Max is more instructive I'd argue Volk beats him, bigger issue is father time he's what 34 going on 35, lighter weight class fighters typically don't have careers that go as long as heavier fighters, or more specifically careers at the top of the sport.

You are good man Sherbro.
The scorecards really don't bother me. It's these excuses and switching up on things volk is doing.

I get he has to create a narrative to get a rematch but this is not the way to go.

I don't know who is putting him up to this or if this is his real persona.

Thank you for the compliment but I could never be as cool as @Ackmed. He's the real OG Islam Fan. He saw the potential of Islam earlier than anybody here on Sherdog

Ackmed Bless
I'm amazed I can still tag him when I thought he's been banned now

I first want to say that I believe the points I am about to make in this thread don't fall under 'fighter bashing'. I would like to ask the Mods to be fair and let this thread stay up.

Here goes ...

Volk has been trying to create a bad narrative of Islam almost immediately after the ending of the fight.

In this thread I will lay out some of the schemes and tactics he's been using.

1. In the post-fight pressconference, he says he heard before the scorecards were announced Islam saying to his cornermen that he wants a rematch because he thinks he has lost. When he gets pressed on this point by the journos he backs down.

What volk said here is blatantly false for a couple of reasons.

A) Islam corner was made out of 3 Dagestanis and Javier Mendez lol

B) Both Islam and Javier were asked about it and they denied this. Islam and Javier were sure that they got 4 or 3 rounds in the bag.

2. Volk has been using Hooker as a personal attack dog to discredit Islam's win over him. Hooker tweets have already made headlines on social media, Youtube and MMA sites. I believe the point of those tweets is to rile up the fans on Team Islam.

3. I believe Volk to be lying about his weight and Islam's weight. CKB fighters seem to have a tendency to exaggerate their opponents' weight.

Hooker told us that Khabib weighed 95KG

https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/...utmuscling-and-holding-down-rockhold.3676583/

He also said Poirier weighed 182.9

https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/...s-last-fight-according-to-dan-hooker.4156993/

When volk fought chad at UFC 232 in LA. CSAC had him as the biggest weight gainer. On fight night, he weighed 166.5 and gained 14% back on. Coming in above the recommended 10%.

SO when he tells Ariel he was 170 on fight night, and exaggerates Islam's supposed weight, then you can't blame me for not believing him.

Volk, his team and gym have lost me as a fan.

TLDR version of volks narratives
1: Islam told his corner that he lost
2: Islam and IV (On Ariel show)
3: Islam was 180 pounds

This is what volk's running with lol

Yo, it looks like Volk is tryna stir up some trouble and create a bad rap for Islam. He's tryna make it seem like Islam was cheatin' and sayin' he lost the fight, but both Islam and his corner have shut that down. Volk's also got Dan Hooker doin' his dirty work, tryna discredit Islam's win by throwin' shade on social media.

But here's the real tea, I think Volk is lyin' about his weight and Islam's weight too. He's been caught before exaggeratin' weights, and when he says he was 170 on fight night and that Islam was 180 pounds, I just don't buy it.

Volk's tryna play the victim and make it seem like he's the real deal, but in reality, he's just tryna discredit a legit win by Islam. Ain't nobody got time for that, and Volk's lost a fan in me.

Lol at twisting of truth.

He asked if his corner thought he lost the first two, because he felt that he was successful. They answered, it does not matter because he will win the last three.

I understand that you are mad, but don’t twist the facts.

he didn’t feel he was successful. That’s why he was asking his corner. He was rocked in both rounds.
He didn’t believe he won the rounds. That’s why he was so hesitant. He couldn’t get any offense going.

he was doubting that he won the first two rounds.
he was also thinking that when he was in the body lock in the fourth round.
He was frustrated he couldn’t get out to win the the round.
He knew he needed to win the fourth and fifth round.
I’ve never seen this from Makhachev.
He was confident he won at least three rounds in the fifth round. he went to the ground to kill time.

Islam thought he lost the fight. He could not stand on his own after the last round, he was exhausted and wanted a rematch.

There you go. Things are even now.

You get it man!
I don't get why it's so hard for volk fans and other sherbros to understand this!

Thank you for being logical!

FAKE NEWS!
He stood up immediately on his own.
And he never asked for a rematch.

islam didn’t think he lost the round.
Volkanovski tried to go all in the fifth round. He got clipped and countered in the first 3 minutes of the last round.
In between round 4 and 5 he told his corner he need to go for it.
Don’t try to change the narrative.
Even in his post fight interview he believed he lost. He would go back to the featherweight to defend his title.
You are making stuff up trying to sell the narrative after the fight pushed by western people who can’t accept the lost and tried to claim to be winners after a clear loss.
It’s pathetic.
I didn’t expect Volkanovski to go to such a level.

I guess that loss shows true personality of Alex has. Have acted like a cool, genuine but exposed now. After 2nd 3rd loss he might gonna be turned into Hooker level douchbag. Already debunked

If you think he won Round 2 there's a very rational way to think Volk won 3 rounds given the vast majority of people gave Volk both rounds 3 and 5. If you think Round 2 was close enough that you gave it to Volk then surely Round 3 at the bare minimum was debatable. Or are you just getting Rounds 2 and 3 mixed up? I reluctantly had it 48-47 Islam with Volk winning 3 and 5 but Round 2 was close.

Perhaps I am, I need to rewatch it. Watching it live I had it 4 - 1 Islam , giving Volk the 5th. But I know either 2 or 3 was semi close. And to be clear, I'm a Volk fan. I was rooting for him. I just thought he pretty clearly lost. Lost on the feet for the first 4 rounds. His feints and traps weren't working and Islam was landing the harder cleaner shots. Very few leg kicks from Volk as well. If you concede he lost the standup, and obviously got taken down multiple times, though he got back up a few times. I don't see a reasonable case for him winning the fight.
As I said, I'd need to rewatch it tho. But live I had it 4 - 1 Islam.
