Deadlifts and milkshakes

Cool beans, WC!
Wish he'd make the trip to upstate NY, I would defintely take a road trip! Not that seeing you and Goon wouldn't be good enough, but, you know!

I see how it is! :-P

We're trying to convince him to come here. Maybe someday!

I had a blast! All your lifts looked strong, especially the bench press. I'm telling you, your technique is looking more and more consistent. It's so nice of you two to make the long trip to come train with me--I really appreciate it!

how cool! Looks like a lot of fun and good job on the bench PR! Way to go. I hope the multi helps you, as well.

Damn that gym looks awesome.

It's a really great gym--huge space, tons and tons of equipment, lots of specialty bars and strongman stuff. Plus, the owner's very laid back and it's pretty empty most of the time. The guy we met there, Tom Roselli, has a 1430 total at 165 and is an awesome powerlifter. I learned about this gym by watching his training videos.

Yeah I get super jealous seeing pics of gyms like that. For instance, I waited on the only rack at my gym today for about 30 mins before I could start lifting. If I was a member there I'd probably run around the gym like a little girl checking out all the equipment.

Well, there aren't many good gyms out there. Most of us have to compromise in some form.

its awesome seeing you guys getting together to train, im jelly!

also, wc, congrats on the pr!
the gym's looking amazing too!

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with how everything is going right now. Now, if you had seen my deadlift it would have been a different story :icon_lol:

That must've been a great experience and congrats on the rep PR!

It was and thanks!

Thanks girl! I'm still taking the multi everyday in the morning. Energy is still really low.

Damn that gym looks awesome.

Yeah, it was pretty cool. It was only $3 to train there too.

If I had a car of my own, I would get myself up there--it's just tough for me to travel right now. Someday, though.

I totally understand. I'm going to hold you to it though!

Man, that has to suck. I've been really fortunate and have never been in that situation. We have two gyms to train at and both of them have many squat racks.

Notes: I am having an unusual spike in strength this week. Squats were moving really quickly. Then I busted out 10 chins which is a PR, and just did it again. It doesn't add up. I'm not sleeping or eating very well. I've had extremely low energy and nausea. I mean, I'm happy with my strength progress but just very, very surprised I guess.

Squat PR and chins. Steve says the chins don't count. I say suck it, they count.

great job on your PRs! F yeah! You are doing so well right now! Not to be a buzzkill, but yeah, I agree with Steve--you're not really doing the chins correctly. You're not hitting bottom on the eccentric--you stop short. Check out the elbow joint--not fully extended at "bottom" in the way you're currently doing it. If you want to really use them to develop strength, you've got to work through the bottom portion of the movement.

I'm on a streak with trying to be honest about things I see on people's lifts. You've gotten a lot stronger with the bodyweight pulling stuff though, and you should be proud of that.

Thanks girl! You're not being a buzzkill lol I know I was cheating on my chins. I honestly don't usually cut the range of motion but I REALLY wanted 10 so I sacrificed a little. My pulling has definitely gotten better. I'm trying to be really consisted about it and do chins after every training session. Today they felt like air! Such a good feeling.

Chins

Notes: I changed up my stance on the deadlift today and it made a HUGE difference in my pull. I widened up my feet a lot and pointed my toes out just a little bit. Normally my back would start rounding at 155#. Today, they all looked really solid and my back stayed flat, even at 190. (Taped a few singles). I'm really happy about this. I can stop hating the deadlift now.

I did something similar with my deadlift a while ago--slightly wider placement of feet. Slightly. It has been good!

Glad the wider stance helped you--it'll be interesting to see how your deadlift progresses now!

Yeah, I'm really excited! I don't know why I didn't think to do this before. Whenever I watch my lifting videos, I am always reminded how I am not built for powerlifting at all lol. My damn long femurs and torso make it really hard to deadlift without looking like a scared cat. But widening my stance seemed to help me get into position. I'm just feeling stronger in general too. I pulled all of those singles DOH without even thinking of it.
