deadlift strength and grip decisions

Seamus uses wraps
Pulls extra thirty-five pounds
Makes poetic thread

Lol what kind of grown man would gain satisfaction from beating a 15 year old anyways? Seems like a nice enough guy.
My ex-girlfriends dad was this way, too (sort of). He was about 220 lbs and somewhere around 5% bodyfat. He would smash local bodybuilding competitions, and looked the part. Only thing was, all of his logic for working out was complete bro-science, and he called himself the Italian stallion. They're like 1/8th Italian lol.

Sorry that was completely off-topic from the thread, I agree with devilsson

Is that a bottle of Absolut Vodka? Lol at that photo.

lol, from his Hocky_Balboa days...

Hey man. I don't know why all these guys are giving you such a hard time. They're all pucking @$$holes, though. Fat powerlifters, if you will.

Every morning, when I wake up, I do this: Three sets of awesome to failure. This keeps me toned up.

Sometimes, before I go to bed, I'll do 5x5 of I'm the fucking man in the mirror. This usually keeps the pump going until the next morning and helps with cutness.

Seamus was physically fit
But the bar sometimes slipped from his mitt
He put on some straps
And said "holy crap!"
Has anyone else tried this shit?

Pull with overhand
Wraps exceed expectations
This shit is crazy!

I use straps when I hit failure with alternate grip
I noticed the amount of guys using strapped overhand grip at wsm
I gave it a try and I lifted 35lbs more than a strapped alternate grip
My question was has anyone else tried this or noticed similar results

At World's Strongest Man
They allow the use of straps
Powerlifting, no.

Best to work your grip
As a limiting factor
It impedes your strength

Sure, straps help add weight
That's why they're against the rules
In competition

That wasn't my question though
I have always deadlifted with alternate grip till grip failure then I carry on with straps
I also include grip work with my training
Irregardless of straps when I go from alternate to overhand grip my numbers jumped up.

To answer your original question: I don't use straps as grip has never been the limiting factor on my pulls and therefore have never run into the issue of whether I pull more overhand with straps or alternating with straps.

For reference, my best pull is 435 and I failed 455 at the knees today.

on the topic of deadlift
im using over under grips
it's starting to fail, pfft.
what options do i have, any tips?

i DL and do rack holds every other day
should i decrease the amount of DL i do?

also, can someone explain
the mechanics of why
mixed grip allows you to hold more?

With overhand grip
Your hands hold the bar lower
Shorter motion range

Lol. You're really good at those cheez.

By which name shall I call thee? Cheez Whiz or Grand Bard?
