so a bit about me
33 with a long history of lifting behind me
off and on for the past 12 years ive lifted
so with deadlifting i have always done an over under grip
its the way i was taught and thats that
i know it goes against the grain but im happy to use wrist straps when i hit grip failure, i can normally go about 40-50lbs heavier
so i was watching some worlds strongest man and was amazed by the number of guys using an overhand grip with wrist straps
i tried it yesterday and fuck
i normally can get a single at 515lbs
with an overhand grip that flew up easy
i ended up working to 550lbs for a single
my grip failed alot earlier with overhand grip
but fuck im really with getting that number
has anyone else had this with there deadlifts?

so you went up 35 lbs by just changing your grip?

nice. your poetry isn't bad. this is my attempt:

Seamus, Irish Pride,
Deadlifts Five-Fifteen El-Bees
Changes grip, flies high

Not all of us are great. At least he's trying, skynetbro.

It's better to never try anything, and just comment from the sidelines, then try something and fail even once.

Fudge. You're right.

Stupid, sexy Tosa.

Learn a hook grip to use double overhand grip.

never heard of that although I have noticed the same double overhand thing in WSM.

Funny story, I was like 15 and had been deadlifting hard for around 4 months and was up to working out with 225 for a few reps. This chick I was dating, her dad workout out in the same gym. He was a tall, big heavy dude, I must have been about 170 or 180. He asks to work in (he wasn't even deadlifting at the time) and of course I said yes, we add a plate for 315 and he struggles hard as hell but pulls it.

I didn't want to be outdone, so I gave it my best but just couldn't hang on. He stood there smirking and I remember thinking if he wasn't so big I might punch him lol. But he actually smiled and said he was glad I tried and he was impressed, then told me to go over under for more grip strength. And it worked, I was able to pull it. Always stood out in my mind, he could've been an asshole and been glad to have gotten one up on me, but took the time to help me out instead.

Damn, that came out long. Sorry to get off topic.

Lol what kind of grown man would gain satisfaction from beating a 15 year old anyways? Seems like a nice enough guy.
My ex-girlfriends dad was this way, too (sort of). He was about 220 lbs and somewhere around 5% bodyfat. He would smash local bodybuilding competitions, and looked the part. Only thing was, all of his logic for working out was complete bro-science, and he called himself the Italian stallion. They're like 1/8th Italian lol.
