Rumored DDP injured, fight with Chimaev off

My prediction with this fight off is Islam going to be fighting Ilia in exchange for a guarantee and promise he can fight up a weight for double champ status after beating Ilia.

Islam will offer to save the day but only vs Justin. I'd be shocked if Ilia, Arman, Charles, Max or anyone more deserving gets Islam at IFW.

What's up with DDP getting injured every other fight?
First he was too injured to fight Adesanya, and now he's too injured to fight Chimaev?

Well, if it's injury, it's the same ankle stuff that took DDP out of his first fight with Izzy, making Sean go there on weeks notice... Then taking the fight more than a year later.

Remember that PED testing agencies changed their rules now, so when an athlete is caught on PEDs, many times they cover that due to their integrity and write it as an injury... With a 1 year suspension being the time the "injury" needs to heal up.

It's not surprising with DDP. I mean, in the Whittaker fight he looked huge... In the Sean fight he looked less buff, in the first one. In the Izzy fight and the second one vs Sean, he was already with that not natural body... Dude seems like a machine steroid, really. It's just like Jiri pre shoulder injury, with that insane 200% pressure and off limits toughness as well.

I don't even understand why DDP is so popular. He fought Whittaker in 2023 and since then has had 3 fights. From 2023 untill now he has fought 4 times, with injuries delay — possibly steroids suspension (if this injury is indeed true). It's easy to keep the hype while going and fighting in convenient moments, looking meh in fights he cycles off and then a beast in others... It's easy to keep the hype like that while being a worse fighter than Poatan, in all aspects... Who lost a close fight vs Ankalaev but in the same time gap that DDP fought 4x, Alex fought 8x, 6 of these fights being championship fights... Poatan was basically carrying the UFC in 2024, and now that the UFC is telling Poatan to wait, even tho Poatan accepted the rematch for August, they aren't showing a contract because they are seeing whether JJ will fight, in case JJ retires and vacates, the plan is for heavyweight Poatan vs Tom... No other fighter other than Poatan and Jiri Prochazka, maybe, are really active.

Seems most of the good fights gets canceled….understandable, but fucking annoying

Well Khamzat better fight SOMEONE, or he should just retire.
Worst case, maybe Cannonier if nothing else? He's 41 but coming off a win. He's also a big, strong MW who once fought at HW.

You may not like DDP, but he's a much better grappler than Poatan, so he's not better in "all aspects." How many guys has Poatan finished with submissions or by GnP after taking them down?

He isn't a much better grappler at all. He got taken down by Whittaker... Poatan stuffed all 12 takedowns from Ank and took him down once at the last second of round 4. That already shows way more than DDP even if Poatan never got a submission win.

Move Khamzat up and have him fight Alex. I mean, good deal, no?

Lol, seriously? Whittaker is a legit grappler and Ank's TDs are nothing special. DDP has taken down almost everyone he's fought and finished multiple people on the ground. Poatan and Israel looked like a couple of 1990s strikers when they grappled each other.

Bro, Dricus popped back up quickly and Whittaker could not hold him down. For the next 1.5 rounds, Dricus mauled him and then finished him. You are literally repeating what Khamzat said, but no one talks about what happens next when you take someone down? Whittaker later on in interviews said, he never realized how strong Dricus was until he took him down. He said it was impossible for him to keep him down. It merely comes down to his high risk. high reward style. He constantly is pressuring, coming forward and wanting to finish the fight and in this chaotic process, he sometimes stumbles and pays for it, but never stops the relentless pressure.

The guy has been grappling since the age 4 starting with Judo. He became a black belt in Judo by only age 14 and competed nationally in South Africa as a Judoka with his 2 older brothers who were South African champions in Judo. He switched to K-1 kickboxing in his late teens in order to compete without a Gi.

Not many people know, when Dricus was training for the first Strickland fight in Toronto, they brought in the most elite Russian Sambo/BJJ instructor in Canada into the gym to spar with Dricus. Dricus submitted him in only 3 minutes. Reinier who trained both with Khamzat and Dricus extensively said., Dricus is bigger, stronger than Khamzat.

I will play exactly the game you are playing. Dricus submitted Adesanya. Adesanya had a field day with taking down Poatan like a helpless giraffe at will. Dricus took every single fighter down whenever he wanted. Strickland has one of the best TDD and Dricus took him down multiple times.

Paddy, unlike Islam, isn't afraid to fight Top, that would sell the card.

Mak showed his "champion" bravery 3 times against the smaller guys.

Mak didn't duck smaller Max, he didn't duck smaller Volk (twice),
but his recent words prove he's ducking the smaller man Top.

Mak obviously shares that same "ufc champ cowardice" as Jon Jones.

There was never no marriage.

One of the very few epic fights to get excited about.
Damn it.

Fuck Dana White this was the only other fight to look forward to since hes too busy not making Jon Jones and Aspinall.

If Topturio v Islam don't happen this year then 2025 is a write off for real.
