Well, if it's injury, it's the same ankle stuff that took DDP out of his first fight with Izzy, making Sean go there on weeks notice... Then taking the fight more than a year later.
Remember that PED testing agencies changed their rules now, so when an athlete is caught on PEDs, many times they cover that due to their integrity and write it as an injury... With a 1 year suspension being the time the "injury" needs to heal up.
It's not surprising with DDP. I mean, in the Whittaker fight he looked huge... In the Sean fight he looked less buff, in the first one. In the Izzy fight and the second one vs Sean, he was already with that not natural body... Dude seems like a machine steroid, really. It's just like Jiri pre shoulder injury, with that insane 200% pressure and off limits toughness as well.
I don't even understand why DDP is so popular. He fought Whittaker in 2023 and since then has had 3 fights. From 2023 untill now he has fought 4 times, with injuries delay — possibly steroids suspension (if this injury is indeed true). It's easy to keep the hype while going and fighting in convenient moments, looking meh in fights he cycles off and then a beast in others... It's easy to keep the hype like that while being a worse fighter than Poatan, in all aspects... Who lost a close fight vs Ankalaev but in the same time gap that DDP fought 4x, Alex fought 8x, 6 of these fights being championship fights... Poatan was basically carrying the UFC in 2024, and now that the UFC is telling Poatan to wait, even tho Poatan accepted the rematch for August, they aren't showing a contract because they are seeing whether JJ will fight, in case JJ retires and vacates, the plan is for heavyweight Poatan vs Tom... No other fighter other than Poatan and Jiri Prochazka, maybe, are really active.
