I Mean maybe, yeah. DDP is full of surprisesI don't see DDP KO'ing Sean at all. I do see him subbing him though later into the fight. DDP KO'ing Sean in the first?![]()
DDP fights like a cartoon character, and that's not something anyone can train for and expect and quality preparation. Strickland fights utilizing the style and dynamics of a common scarecrow, but that will once again fall into DDP's strengths. Make sure you take your piss breaks during the co main event.
I had Strickland by close 3-2 in their first fight. Strickland is fundamentally sound. He demonstrated his skill set against Izzy with his leg kick defense and teep, along with his boxing offense and defense, the shell being used to great effect for once in MMA. Sean is a good fighter and he's shown that his overall striking game is incredibly underrated around here.
The guy continues to utilize the same tools to great effect regardless of his opposition. Yes, he's lost some close fights as he is a volume striker who doesn't wrestle and isn't in possession of great power, but it doesn't lessen what he's doing. Everyone knows what he's going to do, yet he's only lost to two division champ Pereira and a razor thin decision to DDP lately. It's impressive, truthfully.
DDP could knock him out in a round. He's got the power to do it but I don't see it.
The fact so many people stick up for him and say he won the fight when his face looked like this and he had a hard
Yes this is true, you can watch the 2nd round vs DDP 1 where he started fucking up DDP's eye. If you watch it at half-speed you can see that none of DDP's hits were connecting or they were being blocked. Sean's defense is crazy good, maybe the best in all of middleweight. That being said, DDP did not get that jacked just to get hit in the face so I suspect he is going to take him down and try to ground and pound. Sean has a busted leg since forever so who knows where that goes. All that matters is that all the idiots who can't not like somebody and admit they are talented did not get their way and the rematch is happening. I don't listen to any fighters pre fight talk so unless the guy robbed my apartment I could give two fucks.Fans let their bias get the better of them with Sean because he is a brash abrasive loudmouth douchebag... however
He is CLEARLY an exceptional fighter with some of the best striking defense in the game.
"Fundamentally sound" and then some.
Coming from Dana, an unreliable narrator, the UFC supposedly gave out these data tracking mouthguards to a bunch of fighters and among them Strickland sparred the most (by far if I recall) and also got hit in the head the least.
(I don't know if this was overall the least or least per minute)
His defense is HIGH LEVEL.
And it is hard as hell to finish a fighter at the elite levels of combat sports who is focused and committed to maintaining responsible defense.
And for all everyone says about Sean's pitter patter pillow fists, DDP looked like he got stomped out by a dozen dudes in timberland boots after their first fight.
I'm expecting another close fight.
Sean's boxing defense is just too good for DDP or anyone in the division for that matter to catch him with anything that will put him down IMO.I Mean maybe, yeah. DDP is full of surprises
IF he immediately takes him down and pounds him outDDP fights like a cartoon character, and that's not something anyone can train for and expect and quality preparation. Strickland fights utilizing the style and dynamics of a common scarecrow, but that will once again fall into DDP's strengths. Make sure you take your piss breaks during the co main event.
With jabsStrickland busted up DDP's face badly the first fight and arguably won. Got up from all DDP's TD's.
But sure, it's a mismatch LMAO.
With jabs
That doesn’t win championship fights
He has more split decisions than anyone ever inthat division

DDP is way overrated and did not look good in the fight against Izzy even though he was fortunate to get the sub. Izzy has not shown much fight IQ lately. Sean pummeled DDP in the first fight and won that fight. Sean looks a bit bigger this time around and I think Alex will help him be more aggressive possibly leading to a later round TKO or KO of DDP. However, this still remains a very unpredictable fight.DDP fights like a cartoon character, and that's not something anyone can train for and expect and quality preparation. Strickland fights utilizing the style and dynamics of a common scarecrow, but that will once again fall into DDP's strengths. Make sure you take your piss breaks during the co main event.
I agree - the optics are bad for judging though - these guys know he’s point fighting and not going for the killYeah mostly with jabs. That still busted up his face. The fight was extremely close, that's the point.
DDP may well win again. Acting like it's a mismatch is stupid though.
