DC has NO chance against Jon

LOL

There always has to be "that guy" before EVERY title fight who starts up the, "So-and-so has absolutely ZERO chance in the fight."

While the odds are certainly against DC, this is the fight game, and on any given night, ANYTHING can happen, and even the most seemingly invincible fighters can be beaten.

DC has no chance in a fight that some people had it scored 48-47? He wasn't dominated. It was competitive and neither guy came close to getting finished.

He'll have to use his wrestling more but he can beat Jones with the right gameplan. Jones has had a long layoff and I don't think his mind is on fighting. It seemed almost as if it was a hobby that he was just really good at. I might look stupid but I can see him coming back and looking very average or at least have lost a step and that's enough for DC to win.

He'll probably lose, but he might utilize a better strategy for the second fight. DC has been fighting and improving, even if it's not by leaps and bounds. Jones has been sitting on the shelf but obviously still training. I still favor Jon by a wide margin, and if DC were to win, I think it'd be more likely that Jon was rusty and out of practice as opposed to DC finding some secret game-plan that brought him victory.

Even if Jones is better, DC is still a great fighter, and he's proved the he's the champ when Jones is away. It's funny how Jones is often hated on this board until he's set to fight DC, then everyone's rooting for Jones and hoping DC gets killed in the cage.

so you watched Jones/Cormier but think he has no shot despite doing very well for the first 3 rounds?

Cormier faced adversity, and his response to it was to take a round off. The onyl wide round for Jones was round 4, where Cormier was clearly stopping to regain some energy. Cormier needs to adjust his approach, moving in on a straight line just caused him to eat body shots on the way in which caused him to get tired, but the fact is that since then, Cormier has faced adversity vs Rumble and Gustafsson, and his response to that was to bite down on his mouthpiece and get back to work. Cormier has shown a change, Jones hasn't fought since then. We don't know how he will react to a long layoff or to a Cormier who isn't going to break.

I get that the revisionist history is that Jones dominated Cormier, but he didn't, it was a very competitive fight.

Why does everyone act like DC got the ass kicking of a lifetime? He hit Jones with some good shots, got some takedowns. Jones is the best fighter on the planet bar none, so DC not being completely beaten to a pulp means he did well as far as I am concerned. I am excited for the rematch, DC should implement a heavy low leg kick game because that is the only way to beat I think.

I actually watched the fight, and Jones won the rounds but he didn't dominate them, DC made him work for them.

No way anyone can watch that fight and say it was an easy fight for Jones
Jones wasn't troubled at any point of the fight, he did win fairly easily.

Rewatched DC vs Jones and Gus both. Now commentators are saying that DC faded against Jones but proved he has a gas tank against Gus. But watching them fight that isn't true at all; DC fought a 3 rnd paced fight against Jon hoping to get the KO and to nullify the reach. He just worked his tank empty being explosive in the clinch.

Which brings me to reason he won't beat Jon. Jon completely dominated him in the clinch. DC's favorite technique, the uppercut with the right while the left pulls down on the head which worked so well against Gus, only worked a handful of times against Jon. Jon dug his head into the collar bone of DC's left side and opened up with elbows and knees. Any time he lost that position he immediately broke and covered up from DC's overhand right. DC had no answer.

TLDR
Jones beats DC in the clinch, and uses effective kicks at distance. DC has no answer to this and showed no improvement in Gus fight.

Right.

I think it is great that fighters don't read those asinine posts in here.

Holm would have never beat Ronda
TJ would have been destroyed by Barao
and so on...

I mean, why bother trying?

SHerdog knows best!

Lol either was DC
When I say troubled I don't mean close to being finished, I mean having trouble dealing with anything Cormier was doing, DC was so badly outclassed he used most of his energy trying to get a takedown just for a moral victory.

There wasn't anything that occurred in the first fight that would suggest DC has the ability to beat Jones. Jones was never in danger, and basically beat DC in every position. I don't see how DC, at 36 years old, can make up the ground necessary to give Jones any problems.

If you were even remotely smart, and this was true, you'd be singing DC's praises and how he's gonna win every chance you got, then you'd bet every single penny you could on Jones, and make a bunch of free money.

You aren't, and it isn't true, so just hush and leave the MMA discussion to people with reasonable intelligence.

All this time off lack of drugs and gain of muscle gives dc a chance not much but the chance is there

DC may do better than he did the first time but so will Jon. Plus Cain won't be there, again. I think Jon may get a late finish here

Very simple ... the fact that DC was arguably ahead of Jones prior to the eye poke in the 3rd.

Thru 3 rounds they were very even.

Then DC was gassed and Jones took over in the 4th yet failed to really hurt a gassed DC.

In the fifth neither did much.

IF DC can avoid the eye poke and avoid eating as many body shots ... it's a close match.

If I were him ... I would ask the ref to watch Jones' fingers prior to the start of the fight.

If you remind the ref constantly to keep checking he might take a point away for an eye poke sooner.

I got DC by underdog TKO. I predict he rocks Jones and follows him to the mat to finish with GnP.

(I'm probably wrong and no, I won't be betting and I actually think Jones is the better fighter and wish Cormier would go back up to HW and tell Cain to fuck off b/c he's making a run at the title.)

Its a tough call. If Bones had been more active recently I would definitely agree with you. He's been absent doing god knows what for the past year. If he's been training like he used to then Jon all day but if he's going the way of the Iceman DC could be keeping that belt for some time
