Dave Grohl Barbecues for 24 Hours to Serve 500 Meals at Los Angeles Homeless Shelters

im entitled to my curmudgeon opinion and you two can get all bitchy about it if u want

i dont like foo fighters, dave groghl or hollywood. with all the connections he has and the wealth amongst the hollywood elite theyd be able to come up with a plan to at least make a significant difference for the homeless in their backyard. they dont. this doesnt do shit except get him some cool points.

i might not have the resources fame and wealth of DG but i volunteer consistently and donate to local charities in my area. what the fuck do u bozos do besides lick dave grohls nutsack?

edit. ur still my sherbros sherbros. xo.
I kind of agree. DG has the resources to found self sustaining centers focused on relieving hunger, yet he held a one day BBQ obviously for social credit.

Then again, the act of giving a hungry person one hearty meal shouldn’t be frowned upon. As any act of kindness shouldn’t be
met with skepticism.

Maybe just this take at face value and see a guy feeding another hungry guy, and that act should be applauded.

He doesn't think HIV causes AIDS. That makes you quite a harmful weirdo in my book when you're such a public figure. Beefheart is an entirely different kind of weirdo.
This was years back in the early 2000's and it was a benefit founded by Foo bassist Nate Mendel which provided a platform for HIV-positive Alive & Well AIDS Alternatives founder Christine Maggiore to spread her unfounded beliefs about AIDS, largely believed to contribute to both her and her young daughter’s deaths. She died in 2008 from AIDS. The band had a banner up on their website about Christine's AIDS organization with the disclaimer stating "This banner posted as a request from Nate Mendel". It was mostly Nate and not the other band members. All mention of Christine and the organization was removed from the website in 2007. Also, Nate has gone on record stating that his views on HIV and AIDS back then were very ignorant and wrong. Since then he and the band have been involved with Elton John's AIDS foundation, LIFEbeat organization dedicated to sex safety and support for the AIDS community. Also, they have done concerts in support of some of those foundations.

Thought I saw Grohl posting with some celeb bbq chefs in LA.

I like to smoke stuff myself as a hobby and this seems like a dude who had a huge smoker, disposable income, and wanted an excuse to use it as much as anything. It’s the kind of hobby that pays off when it’s appreciated by others.

I don't follow any of the Foo Fighters closely, so if they've grown and tried to make amends, fair enough.

The man also brought attention to the issue. I personally would never have heard of any of these facilities or charities if not for his work. The attention itself is priceless and will help even more than the food he supplied. Criticizing someone in his position for caring and doing something to help is asinine.

He is using his fame to do good deeds and highlight social issues. He should definitely be commended for that.

Grohl is well known as one of the most genuinely good people in the music business, and he has been for a very long time.

Dave Grohl only did this just so you would talk about how nice Dave Grohl is.

how dare u!
oh boy u gonnnna be in trouble....
u shouldnt question the purity of celebrity actions
Celebrities tend to be wealthier than the average person, so they have more means to do these things. They are already famous; I highly doubt Dave Fucking Grohl spent this money, took this time, and barbecued in the rain for 24 straight hours just so some people he’s never met will say “wowee what a great guy.”

I have a theory that people who make accusations of virtue “signaling” do so because they themselves are totally devoid of any virtue, and thus cannot comprehend the idea that other people do in fact have some actual virtue and do shit simply to help out.

Dave Grohl is a prick who puts on a nice guy persona. This is well known in the industry.

You can absolutely fuck right off.

Good on him, but why make a big hub bub about the event? Did it generate donations? It was it just for the press? Those were some lucky homeless regardless…barbecue is some good shit.

Imagine some homeless dude maybe decides he won’t be homeless anymore so he can eat barbecue everyday.

We aren’t talking about his industry, we’re talking about cooking food for homeless people. You’re a prick on a karate forum, but I think it’d be great if you did something helpful to someone. And I wouldn’t discount that action just because you’re an asshole in multiple other areas of your life.
Anyway, since this is Mayberry and supposed to stay “light-hearted,” I’m done with this. If this thread ever gets moved to somewhere like the War Room where I’m allowed to tell you what I think of you, let me know.
ur entitled to ur opinion to shit on us because we attacked ur bf.
u have an optimistic view of celebrities. i and others dont.
Lol @ a silly homophonic remark like we’re in 1985 or some shit.
Anyway, this has nothing to do with my overall view of celebrities on the whole. I don’t care about celebrities, and I actually am not a Foo Fighters fan at all, their music is too poppy for my liking.
The point is: when is is virtue signaling, and when is it just actual virtue? A dude feeds 500 homeless people and you accuse him of virtue signaling while you do what?—sit around shitposting on a karate forum eating Cheetos? His good deed is worthless or doesn’t count because he’s famous?
