Dave Chapelle is TERRIBLE now

He's still hilarious. He just matured and some of you didn't mature with his comedy. You still want an hour of dick jokes. Killing Them Softly was great but he's not a kid anymore and has actually gotten better over the years.

I definitely now want to see he's gotten as bad as you folks claim.

I think people need to keep this in mind:

I actually went to see him on December 2nd, in Calgary. Still enjoyed it; but almost everyone i talked to enjoyed Donnell Rawlings, as one of his openers, more than Dave himself. Will he have another, "Terrorists don't take black hostages", moment for me? Probably not, but that was that time; it was immortalized and I (you) can always go back to it.

Do you think being religious means you are a perfect moral being? I love when atheists say stupid shit like this.
Your own religion says you are supposed to be a "perfect moral being" or else you are just a hypocrite like Chappelle is as a bad muslim. If you don't want to be a "perfect moral being" just be a heathen or an infidel like the rest of us. Don't go to church on sunday then sin the rest of the week including the rest of the Sunday.

He’s a terrible commentator. Nothing he says is profound. It’s only because it’s Dave Chappelle saying it that the damn zombie audience and left will applaud.

Again im not from the states so I’ve no skin in that game.
I would called him a gaslighter more so than a commentator.

He's in his bitter old man phase that Carlin was in at the end of his own career. I only saw clips of the recent special, but man is he not self aware and missing a lot in order to tell a specific message that's just not funny.

Another expert 😂

I'm just watching it now. I'm currently on the Saudi Arabia bit and it's not bad.
I always found him smoking on stage annoying AF, though...

Ok, now he's staring to get political....I might turn it off soon..

Now the right and the left hate him because he did a "space Jews" joke in another special and then "I stand with Israel" in this recent one. I actually thought the Jewish jokes were part of the funny bits IMO.

He's just gotten older. He can't do dick jokes at this age and it'd be really cringe if he did. Part of a joke being funny is the age/sex/race of the person delivering it.

George Carlin kind of had the same transformation as he got older.

He's now kind of like a one man show orator who tells stories with jokes interspersed through it. I still really enjoy it.

He's a really good storyteller and weaves in political allegory skillfully into his sets.

He’s still the only comedian that I can watch that has my full attention. He has complete command of the stage, nothing he does feels phony. If you don’t like the message so be it but he says what he thinks. The spur of the moment stuff he nails with a cadence only he possesses.

Overall I find standup comedy as a medium hack, most of today’s comedians just aren’t funny in real life conversations. When you hear them talk on a podcast or whatnot it’s often stale because it’s not a very controlled environment with their jokes.

This was the first special of his I just didn't enjoy on any level. Didn't even finish it.

I guess I'm going to watch it just so I can form a baseline of people's opinions in here, for future reference lol.

Equanimity & The Age of Spin are gold.

This one is forgettable.

Im a huge dave fan from back in the day like most and i still find him funny.

His style has definitely been coloured with bitterness which is odd considering how universally respected and loved he is not to mention rich.

I cant take him too seriously anymore after he claimed he was more free to speak his mind in saudi arabia than america.
But thats modern celebrity for ya.

He says whatever he wants. He has enough money. If you don't like what he has to say, don't watch him, listen to him, or go to his shows. Money talks in this country.

And ya, he's gotten way too much into political stuff and rambling on stupid stuff. I still watch his specials b/c he always has some good stuff in it. Don't go out of my way to catch it the first day or even the first month.
He's in his late Carlin stage. I'm here for it honestly
