Dave Bautista is such an awful actor

I can't take any of the wrestlers in real roles with actual dialogue and stuff. If it's something light like action/comedy stuff they aight but even in superhero movies they seem to suck. Batista as Drax was ok though.

In terms of acting I think he's better than Dwayne. He at least tries different types of movies vs The Rock's action shoot-em ups.

Cena is getting shit on in here too and he's surprised the hell out of me. Not a dramatic actor, but he's so much funnier than he has any right to be.
I feel like most people in this thread haven't seen Cockblockers. He's not a revelation or anything but does a good job playing against type in there.

I found him funny in My Spy which was playing on Amazon. He's an OK actor. I wouldn't search for him on Netflix just to watch one of his movies.

Worth a watch if you want an action comedy.

I thought he was pretty decent in BR and the show See on Apple TV. Obviously typecasted roles but not sure you’re going to get someone with his build that can act better.

I don’t mind him. He’s at least trying to do different roles despite still being the big muscle guy.

The Rock has settled into his “brand” and won’t do any roles that take him off brand.

John Cena, while great as Peacemaker, is just a Rock copy cat who wants to establish his brand as well.

I like his work, he takes it seriously and has depth to his performances. There is a vulnerability and threat that he portrays that I jive with.

Well said. He does have that vulnerability.

Love the dude either way and hope he makes it. Seems like a good dude

I just watched Glass Onion and saw a trailer for 'Knock at the Cabin' and Bautista is just so awful in both of them. He sounds like he is reading from a card. His voice sounds to same in all his movies and hes stiff af. He got through GOTG because most of his lines were one-liners, but any movie where he has to do any basic acting, he's terrible in. He tried to carry an action flick in 'Army of the Dead', but that flopped hard. Im surprised he gets so much work. His acting sticks out like a sore thumb.

Agreed. His worst trait is his voice and inflection. Sounds like the same guy in literally everything.

- Big Dave is awesome. His interactions with Eddie Guerrero, Flair and Triple H where hillarious. And he doesn't has a problem losing a movie fight, unlike Vin Diesel. Stubber was funny.

Acting is a weird industry. Once you're "in" then you get a bunch of roles regardless of talent.

It happened with Marky Mark. That guy was a terrible actor and yet he got to be a leading man for like 20 years.

Keanu Reeves was a terrible actor for the first decade of his career, but he kept getting great parts.

It probably has more to do with marketing now. Like casting Bautista gets them an automatic majority of wrestling fans to watch the movie.

- Why would you say that? Pretty sure you cried watching Point-Break. Can't imagine any other actor on that role. Even my man-crush Val Kilmer.

This is the best acting performance by a wrestler. Mark Henry fooled me.

- Henry was really good. I do miss him. Hall of pain was a amazing run, and really special for me. Watching a favorite wrestler of mine get the so deserved recognion.

I think he's done a good job.

Notably funny in Guardians and its sequel.

Left his mark on Blade Runner in a memorable scene.

Reasonably entertaining in Stuber.

Effectively menacing in Dune.

I haven't seen other stuff with him but I think he's clearly a cut above the typical wrestler turned actor (he, Cena, and Rock are clearly the biggest success stories in that particular niche of performers). At the end of the day, the fact that good filmmakers like Villaneuve and Gunn seem to not only really like him but want to work with him multiple times indicates something. It could just be he's a good guy to work with but I think they wouldn't be looking to bring him back if they didn't think he was effective.
Very good point well made, completely agree.
