Dare I say...... Hype train derailed??

Bryce took him down with ease. He has a lot of upside. Obviously not there yet.

Ive never even followed mitchell, but if i was an honest scout, id say he was not that impressive. But a wins a win. Let him keep proving me wrong.

Bryce took Fili down like 8 times and controlled him on the ground for 10 mins of a 15 min fight. And on the feet the strikes were even, he got hit clean literally once. The fuck you talking about TS.

He needs to work with stronger grapplers that are heavy on top. He is good, but still has to learn. I didnt think he would win, so.

lol what else do you want him to do vs a long opponent with good knees and good grappling?! and Bryce still dominated the fight....

It was pure domination from hillbilly but I dont think top 5 guys will get taken down that easy like Fili so Bryce work more on the standup

...and Fili sucks, he just defended the whole fight. That explosiveness is shit if your Tdd is below average wtf.

Just because Anderson lost doesn’t mean he was a hype train.

You should take his age into account. He just turned 26 this month. Although that doesn't sound extremely young, for a ranked UFC fighter, it actually is. Only 4 of the other 127 fighters ranked in the Top 15 across the 8 male weight classes in the UFC are younger than Bryce Mitchell. He's younger than 97% of ranked fighters. Nobody ranked at featherweight is younger than him.

Clear win for Bryce. We have seen fighters struggle with lesser fighters before becoming champions. And you named Zabit but he loses rounds all the time.
Zabit is already GOATED.
Once that Goat cardio comes on display in his next fight, that will be very clear.

Bryce can't sniff Zabit's jockstrap.

Kids wrestling is at an elite level already. Give him more time and experience and this kid might have what it takes to be a champ...

Thought that was a fair step up for Bryce...was hoping for more of a showing but will give a pass for now.

He's definitely good with the potential to get better, but I never saw him as a possible future champ. I think he'll struggle right now against the elite guys. We all know his grappling is damn good, but he needs to round out his game with some better striking skills. He's just too one dimensional right now. He doesn't have to turn into Max Holloway on the feet overnight, he just needs to be able to be enough of a threat there that his opponent can't completely focus on sprawl and brawl.

Dudes still a Hot Prospect imo.
The momentum and speed on those takedowns is incredible, his Gas Tank is really good I think, and his ruthless aggressive BJJ will fuck with many who aren't ready for it, his strikings not top tier by any stretch but it's not as bad as some other grapple specialists who do very well... I think this guy can sub guys at any moment in any round, and he's likely only going to improve, still lots to work on.

I read that he broke his hand in the first round, solid win.

What.

Fili had a TDD of 69% going into that bout, which is actually pretty damn good considering Fili has been in the UFC for seven years now. He trains with some high-level wrestlers on a daily basis at Team Alpha Male and yet Mitchell was able to take him down practically at will. Yes, Fili was able to scramble away from some of them... and some of the ones he scrambled away only resulted in quick mat returns. In addition, Bryce also looked much sharper in the standup than I expected and was really sneaking those shots in there (presumably because of the takedown threat).

Don't get me wrong, there were elements of Mitchell's performance I wasn't pleased with. He got caught up in a firefight in the second round (which he should have lost, two of those judges were crazy) and got touched up. He also didn't show all that much aggression on the ground until the very end of the fight in terms of either GnP or submission attempts. Still, overall a solid performance from him and nothing derail-worthy to see here.
