At 205, Weidman has a reach and height advantage (6"2 78 in vs 5"11 72.5 in)and both have similar wrestling credentials. Both are well rounded and Cormier has more aggressive wrestling but Weidman seem to be a more powerful striker. Cormier handled Henderson but Weidman was imo even more impressive in handling Munoz (although Munoz was not at his best). Both are undefeated and have comparable amount of fights and experience.

Similar wrestling credentials? Wtf?

Cormier was the captain of the Olympic wrestling team ffs. He got 4th at the Olympics and has medalled in numerous international wrestling tournaments. Weidman's credentials don't hold a light to that.

Well, both DC and Chris would beat Jones. This would be one hell of a fight but Weidman would take it. He's too dangerous in the clinch with short power punches. DC does not have the power to KO him, he'd have to grind on top of him all 5 rounds and that wont happen. Chris late 4th round TKO

DC murks, and I mean murks, any middleweight that moves up to fight him. Machida, Weidman, Belfort, Rockhold even a grappling beat like Jacare, would all get manhandled.

sorry op, you have the wrong facts. there's no way weidman has similar wrestling credentials as dc. dc is by far the more accomplished wrestler compared to weidman. it's not even close between those two regarding who's the more accomplished wrestler. it's dc and it's not even close.

If you believe Chris Weidman's amateur wrestling credentials are similar to Dan Cormier then there is a lot you don't know about wrestling.

Also, not sure why people get so hung up on credentials in another sport. What really matters in the UFC is how well you wrestle against mixed martial artists in an Octagon.

DC doesn't have the power to KO Chris?
Reallly..?

Everything about this statement is wrong.

this. dc would toy with weidman, it would look like a sparring session, kinda like the hendo fight

Cormier ragdolled BF (who's about 280-285 pounds on Fight nights) and some of you actually think Weidman would give him trouble?

LMFAO!!! WOW Sherdog, you never cease to amaze me.

Ok, DC has a better freestyle wrestling credential, but Weidman have more submission wrestling credentials. So a grappling match would be very interesting.

I would think DC is too big for him. Would be a very intriguing fight though.

I dont think DC is that much bigger. He is shorter and has lesser reach. Weidman is a very big middle weight while DC is actually an average sized LHW despite dropping from heavy weight, I don't think a lot of his mass at HW is muscle either.

Chris didn't have success in olympic trials but they both had decorated collegiate careers. Saying the credentials aren't even close is nonsense.

Weidman is much more well rounded

And nobody on UFC roster is going to "bully" around Weidman, he is as physically gifted as Jon Jones with even better grappling and arguably more strength
