I think the Ali/Silva comparison is pretty fair in that their qualiy of performance and dominance at a certain period of time was fascinating and almost unparalleled.

You need to know at least some boxing to know Sugar Ray, though. But yes, the vote has to count.

At MW alltime? Silva, Belfort, Machida, Romero, Mousasi, Jacare, Rockhold. Machida and Belfort had signifikant stays at 205 but later on also at 185.

It's not often I agree so strongly with DC on...well, anything, but it's such a basic point to make that you'd have to be a moron to disagree. Silva had 10 title defenses, a 16-fight win streak (longest in UFC history, I believe), most finishes in the division, most finishes in title fights, most knockdowns...they guy held the belt for almost seven years straight. AND he took on LHWs for fun and beat them. He's in the running for greatest of all time regardless of division (always in the top three names), so he's a lock for MW GOAT.

Adesanya is sharp, but he has roughly a third of the accomplishments SIlva does. He's on the way there, but you don't get to be a GOAT because of your "potential." You get to be that by actually doing great things.

Well the PED thing is irrelevant because almost everyone was on PEDs back in the day, and Izzy had the PED tit so you have to assume he's no cleaner.

Yes, Izzy narrowly beat the ghost of Anderson. But it was pretty clear from that fight that pre-Vitor Anderson would have probably finished Izzy. Anderson's prime was a mutherfucker of a prime. I like Izzy and all but the comparison is silly. Even Izzy, with all his ego, would probably concede that.
