Daniel Cormier Refutes Claims of Adesanya Being the MW GOAT. Compares Anderson to Ali.

Who's the Middleweight GOAT?

DC's the same guy who thinks he's got a claim at being GOAT despite never having been the best in either division he fought in.

He's not wrong here, but he's only talking up Anderson because he himself beat a 3 day notice, 198lb, post-surgery Silva and wants his own win over Anderson to look good on paper. Doesn't want you to look into the win as closely the above though, or the fight itself where he gassed and got hurt in the 3rd and is lucky that the fight (miraculously) wasn't a 5 round title defence and instead only 3 rounds.

He was arguably the best HW when he bodyslammed Barnett and one-punched trt bighoot (who had just beaten the crap out of Fedor), and he was definitely the best after ko'ing Stipe.

Guy didnt lose aHW round until the Stipe rematch.

He wasn't gassed or anywhere near hurt against Silva. That's just blind hatred/fanboyism. He toyed with him

At MW alltime? Silva, Belfort, Machida, Romero, Mousasi, Jacare, Rockhold. Machida and Belfort had signifikant stays at 205 but later on also at 185.
Man you would have a hard time convincing anyone that Lyoto, Belfort and Romero are above Izzy as far as all time ranking. Rockhold would also be a tough sell imo

Adesanya's reigning over a laughing stock of a division

Leotes, Cote, Lutter, Marquardt, Okami, all lose badly to any of Romero, Whitaker, pr Costa.

Probably all lose to Brunson and Gastelum too tbh.

Don't really think Franklin beats any of them either. Maia maybe beats Gastelum, but i doubt it.

All 7 of the defenses I listed for Silva would lose to Jacare...who never fought for a belt...Let alone Weidman or Luke

The fact that this is part of your argument already shows you've lost this one...

"Or not wanting to engage Maia or Nick Diaz."

Didn't know we were arguing, much less don't understand how I lost it. Considering we were imagining "what ifs" I guess you went off on an imaginary tangent, in where you think you won something that wasn't even happening. That's not even beginning to touch that Silva was indeed timid to engage comparative to his other fights, literal statistics to back this up. Hell, even classic Diaz Gif of mocking Silva laying on the floor.<Lmaoo>

Lmfao, how delusional. Sherdog is definitely providing me so Manny extra laughs today, whether it's illiterate people boasting proudly of their inability to read at a 3rd grade level, or like you, having delusional imaginary events, to where you of course, win, an imaginary conversation that never even took place.

I think there is no debate p4p, but regarding their all-time divisional standing, I agree beating Whittaker emphatically in a rematch would place Israel fairly close to Silva at MW.

I would still rank Silva higher mainly due two reasons:
> Way more tittle defenses
> No controversial or even just close decisions (Romero, Gastelum). Silva either finished the fight or took an abysmally lopsided decision
Fair enough, thank you.
How much would you say Anderson's losses until and including, but not going beyond the Weidman fights, play a role, compared to Adesanya's single loss thus far?

I think to even compare Ali to Silva is disrespectful to Silva

What Anderson Silva did in his prime no has ever came close to nor will anyone ever come close replicating it

The sheer and utter dominance he displayed and the way he did it was just phenomenal

Ali was just another dominant boxer with a few memorable quotes, we have plenty of those and will continue to have plenty more

Unforch we wont watch Israel X machida, mousasi or weidman. Those would have been very good.
Prime Andy would be too much for him Imo.
I also wonder how izzy would deal with Mr chael sonnen, even if both were on peds.

It seems I've struck a nerve.

All of those above Izzy? You gotta be kidding.
Why? Izzys record is nothing special esp for a champ. He is good yes but please the mentioned fighters I wrote down are all a lot more complete fighters.

prime Rockhold? Killer leg kicks were he has reach on Adesanya , if izzy closes one time on the mat and he is finished. Have you even watched prime Rockhold?
Weidman? bigger, more punch, at least equal distancing, better wrestling, better ground fighter. No way Izzy is a favourite here
Romero prime? I wont go into detail but he would be a heavy favourite
Jacare? Maybe doubtful his weapons dont allign that well with izzy.
TRT Belfort? More dangerous on the outside, killer on the inside. No chance for Izzy
Machida? A whole other level of stand up. more elusive, more power, better ring iq, better infighter. Huge favourite
Mousasi? All around the way better fighter.
Anderson Silva? A near dead version went to a decision. Prime was a whole other beast. Way better infight, better ground fighter , better puncher, maybe Izzy has better kicks.

Its comical how Adesanya gets hyped nowdays. He has won vs a 43year old Romero and a zombified Silva by points in a pathetic fight for a "champ"! A good win vs Whitaker and then decisioned Gastelum. All the before mentioned have better records than him. Not even mentioning how he fared at LHW and how Belfort & Machida fared at LHW.

Adesanya around 2015 wouldnt be top 5. Of that I am sure.

Anderson was the first of his kind.

Sheriff had declared goats in every weight class in the last 5 years in some cases multiple.

adasanya is great. You can’t even discuss him as the goat though. By some of the standards he’s more accomplished by sherdog logic. Cain was the goat with 8 fights by a lot of people on here.

he could get there if he’s active and wins many more fights but that’s along ways off to talk about. B

Most people realize how tough it is to beat a pro fighter ur own wieght class, but to make them look stupid while beating them as Anderson did will likely never be seen with that frequency. I always marvel when peeps compare opponents of an era past to the talent available today. Both fedor and Anderson fought the best of what was available at their respective times.

You guys are acting like Adesanya will never be the middleweight goat, but he almost definitely will be if he isn't already.

In no sport does 3 good years qualify you as a goat.
No fan would even suggest that.

it just speaks to the lack of knowledge of the sport by a lot of fans.

You think Franklin bad or something? Adasanya is an awesome fighter. He just hasn’t done it long enough to be discussed as the mw goat. I’m sure he would say that himself.

Adesanyason Silva and it's not even close
