Daniel Cormier down to 212 lbs 3 Weeks out.

Great to see that he's managed to make it this far after what happened. I'll be rooting for him to beat Rashad, LHW needs new contenders.

Funny how he is a (undefeated) HW and will be weighing less come fight night than a LHW.

Anyone who has wrestled knows it is stupid to expect DC to have the same grappling success against 205ers as he had with slow plodding heavyweights. This is a whole new ball game. Throw your expectations out the window.

Not everyone can look like the guys in the Calvin Klein ads, no matter how hard they work or how diligently they diet.

This is horseshit. Every human has abs. The problem is that you can't outwork a bad diet. Most people don't have the drive or stamina to diet and get down to a low enough % bodyfat for the abs to be visible but they are still there. Does having a six pack help your fight game? Probably not, so end of the day who cares if DC is ripped or not. As long as that scale says 205.

Thought he wouldn't be as flabby as he is at that weight. Put him on LCHF diet and he'll make MW in a month :icon_twis

If that picture is him at 212 lbs with no dropped waterweight, then middle- or even welterweight looks like the right division for him. Kinda insane that he could manhandle bigfoot.

Cormier had issues with weight cutting in the past because he was an idiot about his weight management. Before the 2008 Olympics, Cormier would eat whatever he wanted and would openly brag about all the cheeseburgers he was eating, etc. The other team members gave him so much shit about how he was going to be 350lbs and not be able to move in a few years. Cormier then cut 20lbs the day before weigh-ins because he managed his weight poorly. He made weight but he was so severely dehydrated that it put him in the hospital with some kidney issues and thus didn't get to compete. Now he has managed his weight properly and he isn't going to have those same problems.

Interesting, thanks for posting this.

People saying he looks fat have to be either skinny twinks or really dumb people

...or you know, healthy people that eat properly and work out. Daniel is around 18% body fat there. For a professional fighter, that is still fat.

In a recent interview he was talking about his cut down and I'm glad to hear it's going smoothly.

He's not "cutting" weight. Just "losing" weight using a diet and a ton of cardio work I'm sure.

It's all so he doesn't have to do a large weight cut. Very interested in this fight.

lol, Cormier lifted Barnett above his head.

If Rashad tries to grapple with him, he will get ragdolled in an instant.

This is horseshit.

I stand corrected. The concept of genetic predisposition towards a particular body type is horseshit.

The entire field of genetic science can go fuck itself for being so terribly wrong.

The problem is that you can't outwork a bad diet. Most people don't have the drive or stamina to diet and get down to a low enough % bodyfat for the abs to be visible but they are still there.

I'd imagine just about everyone knows a few people are able to get away with outworking a bad diet. I sure know a couple. And these are guys up in their mid '30's. I wonder how they manage, since their genetics obviously play no role?

This also shows that Fedor could've easily made 205 his entire career, if not 185.

If that wasn't blatantly obvious to you already just from looking at him... I just don't know what to tell you.

Also, from your post below this; Rashad is going to get manhandled in the wrestling just like he was supposed to against Davis... When will you guys learn that this is not straight wrestling, it's MMA wrestling. Rashad is going to be considerably larger and faster with far more experience mixing strikes with takedowns than Cormier. The result of the wrestling between the two is far from a foregone conclusion.

I think anyone claiming that Cormier looks fat should be required to attach a shirtless selfie.

I don't think everyone understands the role that genetics plays in your body's appearance. Cain is a great example. Nobody in all of MMA works harder than that guy- he's a cardio monster for HW. Not everyone can look like the guys in the Calvin Klein ads, no matter how hard they work or how diligently they diet. And, at the end of the day, it has jack and shit to do with what happens inside the cage.

This^

Body type plays a huge factor in what your physique will look like, how slow or fast your metabolism is, how and where you store body fat, etc.

It shouldn't be that difficult of a concept to understand, and yet it just fly's way over the heads of so many people on this website.

It just goes to show that fighter hate will trump logic every time.

Good for DC, his cut appears to be going well... I was worried, given his previous history, that it may be a problem for hi,,,,

On that same token, I also get the impression, that given his previous history, and his current weight being fairly close to fight weight, that he will be doing very minimal actual "weight cutting" for his LHW carreer, and will instead try and maintain a lower weight full time (ala Frankie Edgar, or LHW-Lyoto)

Coach or not thats some bullshit. Where im from you go hard no matter who it is. The hell with all that bullshit. If me and my brother was in the same business and i was making $100,000 and he $1,000,000 and i think i can take that away from him and switch places shit it is what it is im snatchin your plate son. Blood is thicker than water but water wash away blood and green run the world fam. Guess he always wanted be cains yes man.

You sound like a complete tool.

And what would you say if Cormier loses bad to Rashad? By your logic, Fedor would lose
as well right?
If Fedor cut to 205 pound, he would not have same strength, his Judo would not be as
effective due to higher center of gravity.
(Just see all wrestler/judoka who lose weight and fat to gain better speed and cardio
in mma like Ronda)

And 185 is a bit crazy. And he would not be recognized as great as he is if he is
a fighting toothpick at that weight.

Rough calculation: He is around 210lb with approx 18% BF. That works out to be 37.8lb of fat remaining. He wouldn't be anything remotely resembling a toothpick at 185lbs.

I would love to see him trim down and stand next to some of the UFC WW fighters as I am certain he would be far from the largest even at that weight class.

Just for you. Dude is fat.
