Daniel Cormier calls Alexander Guatafsson his toughest fight

What tougher than the ones he got knocked out in?

I am pretty sure, to use an analogy, a KO in the first round is preferable to some than taking a brutal beating for 25 minutes. The second fight would probably be tougher on the body than an early KO. Something similar to Conor vs Aldo, would've probably done better (long-term-wise) for the loser than a Rory vs Lawler.

DC wants to be a alpha like Jon Jones so bad… Jones gets inducted into the Hall of Fame for his fight against AG and says it was his toughest fight. Now we have DC copying him and saying the same thing
It was the 6 year anniversary to their fight. DC pays homage to that fight every year. And calling Jones alpha? How old are you?

After Gus caught DC off guard with the knee, he landed an uppercut to rock him and got a knockdown.

You don't see that kind of stuff from average strikers. He's always had a great stand-up game,
and DC straight up acknowledged it. He said the same thing just after the fight.

Yeah. The state of flow

Lol @ DC "wanting" to be an alpha so bad.
(And lol @ the insecure woman beater being alpha).

Homeboy was a champion in the two biggest weightclasses while being comically short, old and fat (not saying fat in a derogatory way).
You couldn't resist could you?

close fight

i think he means 'most competitive'. like most back and forth action.

the jones fights weren't really that close. he might still be salty about the stipe eye poke and thought he could win that 3rd fight.

Incredible fight! Gus was so close to a title. Glad to have him back at LHW.

Gus is just cashing checks at this point. He will be Arlovski of LHW

i took that as the hardest fight of his career, that he won. and i would agree, if that's the criteria.

This was my thinking. It was a war where DC was hurt badly but able to persevere and leave with a hard earned split decision.

I think its obvious getting beaten to sleep by Jones* and broken down and TKO'd to a banana split against the cage by Stipe were 'harder fights.'

*Jon Jones is a PEDS cheat

As if DC won't be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

DC is already on his way to win the war over Jones. In ten years, he will become a beloved institution to the casual fan as UFC commentator. Meanwhile Jon Jones will only make MMA headlines every time he gets arrested. Think BJ Penn and Mayhem Miller. Newer fans will be like "I heard of that guy."

DC is playing the long game.

Lol right, nice way trying to diss Jon

Not copying anything, it's fact.

I remember DC saying in the post fight interview that he was effectively blind for a round and a half. It was Gus' last top performance

I think he's got another run in him. He's 34 and I think he's got another 3-4 good years left in him. And stylistically I think he matches up quite well at LHW right now and he'll be a instant contender after 1 win. I think the time off the last few years was good for him too to recover.

It sounds like pride talk. Jones gave him more trouble, but he lost, so a win being tougher is better for him.

Funny how Gustafsson lost in the stand up against Cormier who is 7 or so inches shorter than him.
