Dana's Unwritten Rule

Yeah I can't think of any fighters who refused to fight and got paid their show money. I think there have been instances where the opponent missed weight, and the athletic commission were the ones to stop the fight, and Dana still gave the fighter who made weight show money ... but I can't think of any where the fight didn't happen due to the fighter who made weight refuses still getting paid ... could be wrong though.

But not all the other promotions and fight sports. Its only the UFC doing this right???

<DCWhoa>

The difference between the UFC and other orgs is in the billions.

Yes other promotions and fight orgs are just as corrupt (hell, even more in a lot of instances), it's just the UFC is the most successful of them. They are all predicated on taking as much advantage as possible of the fighters because that's where all the profit is.

So when the UFC does something like fuck over a guy that's literally put his life on the line for company repeatedly for over a decade and made them tens of millions for a measly quarter mill that he actually deserves, they just further reveal their true colors again as a heartless blood-sucking vampire squid that likes to operate mafioso style.

They didn't like that he wouldn't play their stupid game of being forced to fight a heavy opponent at a huge disadvantage for a minor financial gain (what's 30% of Pereira's purse, $30K?) or take a short-booked fight in a few weeks and have to cut weight again and fight against somebody that's probably dangerous in skills but has little to no name value.

They could've just paid him under the table and he wouldn't' have even mentioned it, he would've been like "they took care of me" if he was asked. But they wanted to make an example of him and this behavior to set a precedent and put fighters on notice, that's why this went down publicly.

heartless blood-sucking vampire squid

Is this video a reference?

Didn't know how to AI generate a vampire octopus,
it'd be cool having more arms - to signify more unwritten rules.

Best thing is to fight if you want to get paid. Fight more, get paid more
To build a brand you have to win fights.
To win fights you need to train specifically for the fighter you face.
Taking short notice fights is very contrary to a fighter going on a run and becoming a high-paid star.

So all the other times it happens everywhere else all over the world it doesn't count. Got it. Only when it happens to Wonderbread. It's only his life that's on the line.

If he gets rescheduled, then he doesn't get compensated for this fight lol.

Unless you're saying you think they are going to pay him above and beyond on his next fight?
What Fight the man did not fight?

Remember when Chris Leben fought twice in two weeks? He didnt even need to make a name for himself,he was already known. He just wanted to get them checks.

He won both fights too!

Frankie would've given him fits at that time.
No doubt. Thats why it would have been dumb to do that.

If Conor has to fight on short notice, you give him someone beatable. Its the smart thing.

Mendes could have still won,but it gave Conor a better chance.

But Frankie was in the higher position and deserved the shot...and the money.

Yeah but it would have been better for him to have trained specifically for Conor also. Conor def dodged a bullet, but I agree with them not making this fight on 2 weeks notice. Conor still willing to fight means they needed to do a concession. They would have been shooting themselves in the face putting Frankie in there.

Then you're agreeing with me but you're taking the company's angle.

Jon Jones opted not to fight Chael when Dan Henderson pulled out. He didnt get paid shit, cos he didnt fight. He knew.
There's a glaring difference there, troll. The failure happened on the day of the weigh-in. Team displacement done, all expenses incurred, and the weight-cutting process completed... but you know this and are here just to be fed.

He should be reimbursed for the expenses. I don't know the exact amount, but that was promised. It will be up to Thompson to disclose the sum and whether it has been fulfilled, but it's not like he ended up with nothing.
