DWCS Dana's Contender Series 2025 thread

Week #1 prospect to watch - George Mangos

3:05
Steady, narrow stance, striking to wrestling combo, deep double leg on wires, squeeze hands to finish it.
Stewart use distance to whizzer-shift his balance on opposite side and hip shrimp.
Mangos recognizes his intentions and tries to regrip underhooks.
Even though Stewart gets up, Mangos secures a double underhook.
Corrects his posture, neck control, weight down, chain outside trip to push pull down.
Falls in half mount, come higher and immobilizes his arms.
Knee pass - Stewart turns his back - Mangos follow his hips and takes a human backpack.
It was too high and he didn't take seatbelt grip in time.
The opponent did not have an adequate answer at that moment because he is not at that level.
Although he didn't have good posture at the finish, Stewart helped him by trying to stand up instead of handfighting.

He has to fix back control.
21 years old and already such understanding in the clinch and on the ground.
Striking to wrestling, splitting weight in relation to the opponent, immobilisation, compact grip, finishing takedowns, decision making...

Radley da Silva will try to lead him in chaos.
Clash of styles and rhythms.
Mangos path to victory is to mix in a lot of wrestling to slow down the fight.

Yeah this is a good fight. Radley is athletic as fuck.

Yeah this is a good fight. Radley is athletic as fuck.
His good sides are athleticism, capoeira, changing angles, kicks and counters.
Flaws: wasting movements and energy.
Mangos has advantage in both rhythms due to better energy distribution.
Radley has an X factor in a way of natural abilities which can be crucial.
That makes this fight most exciting.

Brandon Holmes replaces Jon Kunneman to face Cam Rowston in Week 2. He was booked to face Elias Urbina (TUF Gadelha vs Joanna) in Fury FC the same week

Could go either way it seems, also seems unproven.

The Pink Panther is fighting Demba Seck (which means most likely that Ananias Mulumba is fighting Murtazalov, Africans against grapplers)

Fighters Out

Alden Coria (flyweight) is fighting on Noche UFC against Alessandro Costa
Pinas is off. Talha is fighting Susurkaev (might be the first Chechen vs Dagestani fight in the UFC. I think both are Ali guys, which is weird in the DWCS)
Jon Kunneman (MW) is off. Brandon Holmes is fighting Rowston
Seck vs Kurt Campbell
Pace Jr vs Cabrera in week 9
Joksovic (WW) is off (injured)

I think there are only around 15 spots left. I would have expected more WMMA, but whatever...

Given what I've heard about Susurkaev, I guess Murtaza Talha's UFC dreams will be done and dusted for good next week.
