Dana White "Tuesday, we'll figure this out."

Tony Ferguson kept fighting everyone instead of fighting for the belt. How did that work for him?
It worked well for him while he was winning. Just keep winning.

You think sitting out would have changed anything? He had reached a point where he was going to lose, no matter what. He wasn't beating Khabib, he wasn't beating Gaethje, and he wasn't even beating Oliveira.

If Tom can't beat Gane/Volkov, he's gonna lose to Jon Jones anyway. Staying active doesn't change anything.

JJ said in Thailand that him and Tom would wait for the UFC to announce it.

My take is that it is all lined up for UFC 322 at MSG in November and Aspinall, Jones and the UFC are all just playing the game in the interim until the UFC are ready to announce it.

They’ve got plenty of other events to sort / focus on until then. Why announce it now if it is not until November?

They haven’t even announced the main event for UFC 320 or 321 yet so I’m not sure why would they announce 322 just because a load of people are crying online wanting news.

Sadly it could drag on for another 2 months. At the end of the day, Tom needs to start publicly campaigning for a fight, even if it's not against Jon Jones. I agree with what GSP said. He just needs to defend his interim belt and focus on his own career.

If Tom keeps listening to Dana's lies and keeps waiting, nothing will change.
Tom does not want to fight anyone else unless it's for the belt. He's already made this public. Also do you not realize how ridiculous "focus on defending his interim" sounds? Defending his interim for a 2nd or 3rd time does not advance his career but waiting for his inevitable TS does.

The announcement is going to be that Jones vacated and it's Tom/Cyril for undisputed

Netflix Chief of Content Bela Bajaria and CEO Ted Sarandos have both separately made public comments that indicate their 'live' strategy is about one off events, when questioned about the UFC in long format interviews.

Granted this could be negotiation posturing but there isn't much buzz in town that this deal is going. Its possible they break-up the rights to multiple platforms. I could see Netflix have some events. Really we'll have to wait and see.

The concept that Dana is intentionally making the company perform poorly by refusing to book the biggest bill they have right now, so their numbers look terrible during negotiations, is just fantasy stuff. That isn't how business works.

I think Netflix stance is more or less we want must see "events". We don't want your Tuesday night house show event or whatever. We don't need 48 UFC events.

UFC PPV's is probably all there interested in. Maybe they do 1 big event a quarter on Netflix. Who knows, this media deal is all about maximizing revenue and if splitting things is the best for business it is what they'll do.

I've not seen him say that beyond saying "my next fight will be for the heavyweight title".

That could be bluster. It doesn't mean he's turning down fights. But if you're right and he's declining interim title defenses, then he has no one to blame but himself. Yes Dana White is a scumbag, but he should be defending his interim title and take to social media, and just claim he's the real champ and Jon is a paper champ.

"He said he's ready to vacate the belt? (Expletive) crazy," White said. "I've been busy. I haven't been keeping up with the gossip. He's either back today or came back yesterday or whenever. He was in Thailand. He's home. We'll be home tonight. Tuesday, we'll figure this out."

So, any news about this supposed meeting on Tuesday?

Well, of course Dana isn't on top of Jones saying he's ready to vacate, because that's not what he actually said.

Jones was dismissing the online petition, and also said that keeping the title would be secondary to a blockbuster matchup/superfight, if it came down to it.

They gave him one to salvage a card in England when Jones ALREADY HAD A FIGHT SCHEDULED. The reason they won't do it again is because they're holding out hope for Jones/Aspinall (what I've been trying to make you understand). The risk of injury obviously plays into it too. The UFC has all sorts of reasons they do NOT want Aspinall fighting anyone else until they get a solid answer from Jones.
Answer has been pretty solid so far, its a "No", lol.

He says it right here. The link is time stamped so it takes you to the point of the video where he makes the statement upon clicking.

Interesting.

I don't agree with his strategy then. He's more likely to be stripped and Dana will do Jones vs Pereira.

Lol no. Interest in Alex fighting Jon evaporated the moment he dropped that decision to Big Ank. Tom knows the only big fight at HW right now is himself fighting Jon. The UFC also knows this which is very likely why they've been dragging this shit out on top of the fact that Tom has cleaned out the division outside of Gane and Almeida so obviously the UFC isn't going to offer him those fights even if he wanted to defend his interim because there is not going to be anyone new for him to defend against once he does get the undisputed.

TLDR: Tom is stuck waiting even if he didn't want to.

Jones said he said they’ll wait for the UFC announcement as legally they can’t talk about it which presumably means it’s written into the bout agreement.

If Jones isn’t fighting then I doubt there’s anything stopping him from saying he’s not fighting.

I'm not convinced that's true.

Who else would Jon fight? It's Tom or Pereira. That's it. There's no one else for Jon Jones to fight. Jon has been hinting that he would fight, but not against Tom. Therefore the only other option is Pereira.

Tom destroyed Volkov already and Gane was doing movie shit

Indeed he did. I watched that fight.

I'm just commenting on sitting out vs staying active. The "risk" of staying active is that you lose. I was just saying that if Aspinall fights Gane or Volkov and loses, then him losing to Jones would have been inevitable anyway, so in that scenario he doesn't actually pay the price for being active.

Come on, how many times does Jones have to say he's not fighting Tom? It's crazy that his own fans refuse to believe him. At the same time he won't let go of the belt because it's his identity and his 'brand'. He even said that they don't strip him because they need him as a 'figurehead' even if he doesn't fight. I mean the dude's thinking is completely warped but he's proving himself right as long as Dana refuses to do anything about it.

All of this BS should've already been figured out. Jon vs Tom should have happened already or another matchup should have been presented to Tom by now. This shit is getting ridiculously annoying.
