Media Dana White shares thoughts on PFL buying Bellator

Will the “new” PFL do a better job at competing with the UFC than Bellator did?

Is this the reason he changed the contracts? To make it harder for the shitty competition as he states to take talent?

I mean them combining definitely makes them a bigger threat but it’s going to take a lot more than that to truly compete with the UFC. The UFC’s recognition is just hard to compete with. It’s so synonymous with the sport half the general populace thinks the sport is actually called “UFC”. They would need to figure out how to build some true superstars and probably poach some top level talent from UFC, but that’s a difficult task.

If it were LEFT up to me, Id market PFL completely differently from the UFC, it should be the complete opposite of the UFC..and by opposite
i mean OPPOSITE.
i mean the atmosphere will feel futuristic, everyone will feel welcomed. Heels included. no funny business. id market the pfl to have a
a whole different audience, FANBASE. Allow Q&A from the crowd, Host Celebrity fights with semi famous actors, social media influencers,
rappers, singers, ex baseball, soccer , nfl, nba players,

Like think outside the box, Have cooler entrances, Get them on tik Tok, cross promote with AEW,
everyone wears their own attires, fighters can cut promos ,
promote crossover mega fights from boxers, kickboxers, muay thai fighters. get fighters little acting gigs, have PFL comedy,
Man oh man....... But most importantly find someone who can Build these fighters into Mainstream house hold Stars.

Id get people like jackie chan, donnie yen, bill clinton oprah dwayne johnson lebron james to promote the PFL
Id have an incentive for fighters who have great fights or get knock outs. id have acting coaches to help
fighters learn how to market themselves or make gimmicks thats believable.
😭 <RomeroSalute>id make PFL a great alternative to the UFC.
fuckin bill clintons dawg.

Tell us what kind of retardation leads to someone wishing for the main organization in the sport they follow to go out of business?

Be honest with yourself, Special123. It's nowhere near the "retardation" required to actually believe Conor is fighting the winner of Zuckerberg-Musk. Or that Holland would be WW champ. Or that 6000 year old Nate Diaz would beat Khamzat Chimaev. We can go on for quite some time but I think you get the idea.

You absolute idiot.

You would sink the company in a year.

Dana haters will say he’s salty, dana guzzlers will say none of the champs in those divisions would be top 5 in the UFC
I do agree that Bellator is pretty weak but Nemkov and Patricio would do very well in the UFC and could make it to those rankings in the UFC

The part that is odd to me... is I thought bellator was a much more prestigious organization than the PFL.... it has had much better fighters and history... but I guess that doesn't matter in regards to money.

PFL is where the UFC was in mid 2000s. They need a big boost, getting Ngannou to fight someone like Deontay would give Dana an eternal tomato face. Any true fan of the sport would not want a UFC monopoly.

Dana starts going pro wrestling to appealing to the fucking moron casuals and forgets that MMA fans actually like Bellator lol.

Hate Saudi & their oil money. Hated every aspects of them gobbling up Golfs, F1 , now even Tennis Masters 1000 & Grand Slams.
Why? They promoted Ngannou vs Fury and it was a great fight. They will make a lot more investments in the fight business in the coming years, which is good for the fighters and the market as a whole.

Are they even at that level?? Or even close to? I mean the UFC was around for over a decade at that point, pretty much started MMA in the US and had many superstars and recognizable names like Couture, Liddell, Tito, Shamrock, Royce.

Yeah unfortunately PFL never going to able to compete with the UFC in terms of viewership, PPV sells etc. I mean I'm happy UFC washouts can go to PFL and make good money else where but is just matter of time before Saudi's see no hope of ever competing with the UFC and pull their funding and the org goes belly up.

To the poll question, yes

Times are different, there is a more efficient way to reach an audience now than compared to say, 10 years ago. They have a solid roster, its just going to take the correct exposure and timing, and we may very well have a strong UFC rival again. History is our greatest teacher, you cannot stay on top without sacrifice. The current UFC is risk adverse and still relying on the same formula from Conor's era

Is it though?
It's not like the Saudi football league is run profitably. Usually at the point where the Arabs decide to put public funds into play, it's an investment that is not meant to be bringing in returns directly. They just write it off as development costs for tourism or some industry related to that.

It's a business competing with a government and a government that is not bothered about losing money. To them this is roughly the same as investing in healthcare or infrastructure. There's not even a backthought of profitability.

It doesn't really matter if they sell tickets. Their pockets are bottomless. They will almost certainly overpay athletes for a good while. Attracting the best athletes and as soon as they have some great names, which frankly, they already kind of do, their product will already be about as good as the UFCs product and the main income drivers are the subscription services and anyways, which they already have deals in place with DAZN and ESPN.

The point is that wether or not they will succeed as a business in the long run, they will most certainly put massive pressure on the UFC to pay their fighters better to retain their talent, which is really a very convenient timing since the UFC is already a bit in troubled waters regarding fighters pay due to the Antitrust case.

We're fans of the sport, of its competitors and not of the promotions that organize events. All that matters is that we get good fights and good fighters get good pay. That's why it's exciting news.
It’s casuals that pay the bills. As long as they have no idea what piffle is and continue to pay for UFC’s product it is irrelevant.

A disingenuous reply from Dana? I'm shocked.

What did Dana say would happen to Francis after he left the UFC? How did Dana say Francis would do in boxing? Dana is on a bad predictive streak.

I know exactly what the PFL should do to make Bellator not only a profitable company but one that would outperform the UFC on an annual basis. However, I am not telling anyone anything until I get paid a lot of money for my information.
