Media Dana White Doesn't Love the $10 PPV Price Increase

While ESPN may have raised the price it seems silly to think Dana wasn't informed or had zero input.

Why would Dana have input??? I'm sure he was informed at some point.

They sold the right to the PPV side to ESPN, they can charge what they want unless in the contract the UFC has to sign off on it. Either way that would be an Endeavor decision.

Dana is a public figure head and part of his responsibility has always been to take the heat when need be. Even when the Ferts owned the UFC that is the way it was. Though back then I'd say Dana had more pull than he does now.

Well Dana can sleep well knowing I stopped paying for PPVs like 8 years ago. Raise them by $1000 idgaf.
Why did you pay for them 8 years ago?
Felt fair? And now it doesn't?
Honestly, every wmma fight is like I've been robbed of a possibly good scrap.
Look at this shit, you're gonna pay 75 bucks to watch F level chookagenia or whatver the hell?
I'd happily pay 75 for Ali vs Big George. Or the amazing production of PRIDE, featuring Fedor, Minotauro, Saku, and all the baddest, best dudes in the world at the Saitama Arena.

Exactly. Back then you knew what you were getting basically everytime, a stacked card filled with the best and most exciting fighters in the world. Top card was usually established legends in their prime or legends in the making. Even if you felt it was too much $ for ppv it was impossible to resist. The excitement leading up to them was so palpable you could taste it in the air. You were counting down the sleeps till Saturday, when you had cleared your whole early afternoon and night for the event. It was not this low quality product watered down with garbage wmma and DW's pet project scrubs. I don't even know who many of these bums are when I watch now.

Actually I just Googled it and yes in the US the $75 rate is already in effect so I think in Canada it'll continue being $65 for a while.

I thought it was $65 in the US before the increase but I just read it was $70.

You guys should move to Canada
Canada is an authoritarian shithole whose prime minister is a corrupt shill. I’d rather pay the extra $10.

I guess we will see. If ESPN is right, sells will decrease a bit, but overall revenue will increase. I just don’t see how they came up with their numbers. We all have our own price elasticity of demand and as a whole, an average marginal utility. I just can’t see how these numbers changed in favor of the UFC during a pandemic. Believe in COVID or not, our economies are taking a big hit.

Says it's an ESPN decision beyond his control

I believe that. He'll, he was only ever a 10% owner in the first place. People think he has a lot more power than he does.

They’ve done an excellent job of creating a whole new generation of illegal streamers, so they’ve got that going for them.

I don't know when Sherdoggers are going to understand he doesn't own the UFC and doesn't have power like they think he has. People on here think he can increase fighter pay to 50% for something that is part of a publicly traded company.

The reason why WME picked it up for 4.2 billion wasn't to pay out 50% revenues. ESPN same thing....they want $$$ hence increases.

Its like when Dana tried to have Khabib vs Tony during covid and the ESPN/Disney bosses shut him down. Again not the owner and doesn't hold the power.
Exactly.

Dana is just a front man ... a puppet to Ari Emanuel and all the Hollywood snakes that own the UFC

OTWs, DAZN gets you all nfl games and redzone up there too. Minus a few degrees for entertainment justice? I think I shall.

Let's all boycott this card so they bring down the price.

I remember back in the day...

Dana says, "Yeah, we won't be increasing the PPV price this year."
Later that year, the price goes up.
A reporter in a UFC scrum asks.. "Dana, you said that the UFC wouldn't be increasing the price this year, yet the price went up. Can you tell us why?"

Dana...
"Cuz."

Dana White controls everything in the UFC.

All I know is I'll be watching for free over here in the Dominican Republic.

Its easier to identify a person as the devil compared to a whole conglomerate which employs a lot of people and puts out content you consume and enjoy
