Media Dana White Doesn't Love the $10 PPV Price Increase

I just found out in the US it was actually $70 USD for UFC 269 and prior.

I think sales numbers dropped for ESPN because viewers have to have their app to be able to order, and that's why the price increase is only on the ESPN app which we don't use in Canada anyway.

Solid rationale.

Yeah. The entire pay a subscription fee and then pay much more extra for the PPV is a horrendous idea.

It only makes sense to me. If you “sell the rights” to something you no longer have a say in the matter. Unless there was something specific in the contract at the time of the sale. Why would the UFC be able to have any say in the price ESPN charges? I bet the UFC isn’t entirely happy about it, because it could affect viewership. At the same time the UFC is getting guaranteed money from ESPN. So during the length of the contract I’m not sure it matters much to the UFC.

Well Dana can sleep well knowing I stopped paying for PPVs like 8 years ago. Raise them by $1000 idgaf.

Order it now and that's the price you will pay. They can't change it after it's been ordered.

Dana is going to show up at his house and get the 10 dollars.

I don’t doubt that he’s unhappy about this. The more expensive ppv doesn’t affect his compensation. Dana lives for bragging about ppv buys. The increase will only make ppv buys less. Amazing that in the golden age of mma, a ppv was almost half the price.

Wait you have to pay to watch ufc?

Why havent anyone told me this before.

I would rather pay for WWE extreme rules than pay for UFC. Most events are boring anyway.

Actually I just Googled it and yes in the US the $75 rate is already in effect so I think in Canada it'll continue being $65 for a while.

I thought it was $65 in the US before the increase but I just read it was $70.

You guys should move to Canada
Lol. Nah. Super cool on that.

Or move to the UK and get it all free.

But yeah, blaming Dana for everything the UFC does is stupid.

I doubt he makes many big decisions, tbh.

Maybe I'm one of the few shmucks who actually paid for PPV's but I'm drawing a line in the sand now, I used to order every one when at 39.99 for a long time then as the increases came my PPV purchases went down and now....they will be virtually nill.

WWE extreme rules..WTF is that? Like WWF in the attitude era, for over 18 in age viewers?

Says it's an ESPN decision beyond his control

I wonder if this means UFC actually won't see the money and it is ESPN getting it(since the amount UFC get per buy might be set in stone in the ESPN contract). Perhaps the UFC deal isn't working out for ESPN the way they hoped and now trying to recoup some money.

In Australia it is provided via Foxtel and is $54.95 AUD ($39.50USD) for Gane v Francis (following UFC is the same price).

Did anybody actually think the Endeavor purchase from the Fertitta’s was good for the fans?

I wonder if this increase is only in the US?

Can someone confirm if next week's event is showing as $75, or is the increase effective at a later date?

It's still showing as $65 in Canada.

Hoping maybe the price increase doesn't affect us above the border. After all we had to pay for UFC 267 when it was free in the US :)

Still $54.95 in Australia
