I'd love to see a genuine year to year PPV breakdown on buy rates..

I'm guessing pricing decisions come from their CFO, in a report showing assumptions & calculations to show its what's best for the business.

Dana may have been consulted for his opinion but it would be silly of him to try to block the increase (even if he could block it), since the bean counters would have already made a strong argument.

I'm also guessing this increase was decided on several months ago at least.

I wonder if this means UFC actually won't see the money and it is ESPN getting it(since the amount UFC get per buy might be set in stone in the ESPN contract). Perhaps the UFC deal isn't working out for ESPN the way they hoped and now trying to recoup some money.

In Australia it is provided via Foxtel and is $54.95 AUD ($39.50USD) for Gane v Francis (following UFC is the same price).

Dana says neither he nor the UFC are responsible for to PPV price increase. I know Uncle Dana fibs fairly frequently, but his explanation sounds plausible.

"According to UFC president Dana White, the promotion has no input in the price of its premium events since it gave pay-per-view rights to ESPN as part of its broadcast deal.

“We don’t have any say in that,” White said at the UFC on ESPN 32 post-fight press conference. “We gave the pay-per-views to ESPN, so that’s their decision.

“You know how I feel about that stuff. I don’t love when prices get raised, but it’s not my decision, it’s their’s.”

It is actually cheaper than it was in the past. I remember it being $10 more.

I think some euro countries get it even cheaper. UK is 19.95 pounds which is $27USD, which IMO doesn't seem such an investment and more in lines which what people would typically spend on leisure activities without thinking.
