Dana:no way in hell we're cutting leonard Garcia!

I actually had Garcia winning 2 of 3 rounds. I don't think he should get cut based on that performance.

I mean seriously. Any snob who says "I don't want to see a sloppy slugfest" should have to be hooked up to an EKG while watching Frye-Takayama.

I love a good slugfest, but I loathe that Frye/Takayama fight. It's just embarrassing. It's just two guys holding onto each other's heads and winging the same punch over and over. It's not MMA, it's not boxing. Even Rock 'Em Sock 'Em robots is a better fight than that... they have two different punches! Frye/Takayama would even be bad for Bumfights.

Garcia deserves to stay after 155. He lost a close decision as a huge underdog (as much as +385), and many MMA news outlets scored it for Garcia. According to the stats they showed at the end of the fight, Garcia outlanded Holloway by a large margin.

Garcia gets hate for decisions that were out of his control

but the heart and fighting spirit he puts forth is some of the best we've ever seen. I'm shocked people don't want him in the UFC (not like he's fighting for titles here).

UFC needs to stop cutting exciting fighters, period.

What they NEED to do is cut boring fighters after a boring performance win.

This. If they fight like that keep them around.

It's not like he is getting Ko'd or subbed in these losses. He is losing very close fights, that could go either way. Add to the fact, that he is very exciting and attracts fans to the events and I think it is a wise decision by Dana.

I can see if he loses a few more fights, him being cut. However, I think they will match him up next with someone he can beat, so he can stick around a while longer.

Dana knows that the "Just Bleed" crowd orders about 80% of the PPVs and buys about 99% of the Tapout shirts.

And tell me you as a "smart fan" don't get amped up when two guys are just wailing on each other in the center of the cage. It's part of the reason we like combat sports; no fight fan has ever sat on their hands through a slug fest and said "that was boring."

Such a true statement. you have summed up my thoughts perfectly. I don't want to watch a wet blanket contest. People try to pretend to be educated fans by "appreciating" 2 guys dry hump each other.

He's lost 4 straight and doesn't even look like he can hang with the lower tier fighters. Since when is closing your eyes and throwing haymakers exciting?? He's a banger no doubt but he's not really good IMO. It's sad Dana and zuffa stand by fighters who are exciting and lose all the time, than fighters who dominate and win all the time. Maybe that's what's wrong with the UFC.

Hahaha. And when the UFC cuts a guy after losing only a few fights there are threads stating that is what is wrong with the UFC as well.

Why does it bug you that Garcia has a job?

derp ta derp, derpderpderp derp

I can see where people find him exciting, and fun to watch. But unfortunately I can go to the bar street here and see anyone of his fights reenacted every saturday night. Reminds me of watching some high schoolers fighting in the hallway.

Even though I agree they aren't the most exciting fights, but they are fights. And if you can not overcome that style thats on the fighter being held down. By now they should have an idea of who uses these strategies and how to prepare for them. Its part of the sport.

Nothing wrong with Leonard Garcia
Always puts a show on and shows great heart and a solid chin

So called MMA "fans" are just acting like a bunch of pretentious fucks who most likely have never thrown a punch in their lives

If anyone should be cut its the fucking MMA "fans" who boo unreasonably that should be escorted out by the Boo-Patrol that should be established at UFC events from now on

My only issue with keeping guys like Garcia is that I watch pro mma to see who is the best, and his spot could be filled by someone better, who might actually mount a title run or actually improve. However, I understand other people see it as pure entertainment for entertainment's sake, and I thought he looked a lot better than usual last night, and imo he did deserve the win. But yeah, brawls are entertaining but empty.

If he was cut, we would still be able to see him on a smaller stage.
Or watch Worldstarhiphop.

They have 200-300 fighters on their roster. You are never watching just to watch "the best", unless you are barely watching any MMA. Every event needs "filler", these guys are a mix of prospects, journeymen, and contenders.

A guy like Garcia plays a key role, he is a good journeyman for prospects to fight to gauge how good they are. You need guys like that, you don't want prospects all fighting each other because you don't learn a whole lot and you give them mandatory losses, which can lower their hype value. (It's fine to lower their hype value, but you want it done against a name fighter, not another unknown prospect.)

...did anyone not enjoy that fight??

it was one of the best fights on the card

also garcia looked more technical than ever

I'd rather watch Leonard Garcia fight his ass off win or lose as i get ready for the main card, than watch Derek Brunson or Yushin Okami bore the poptarts out of me.

Garcia is embarassing. I can't stand watching him fight.

This
Garcia always comes out to fight. You can use the just bleed gif all you want as an argument, but when you're paying $60 for these cards at home and over $200 to be there live; you expect to see exciting fights.
