He chooses to be the 155 champion, or chooses who he fights. But not both.
 
Khabib should 100% refuse to fight Conor and demand the highest ranked available contender.
Conor shouldn't be ranked at LW
He hasn't won a fight at LW in 3 years.
He is 1-1 at the weight class.
He is fighting at WW tonight.

It de-legitimizes the sport and the rankings for the active champion to be forced to fight a guy who isn't ranked just because it is marketable. It's basically cheating deserving hard working fighters out of their careers.

All fighters should call the NLRB. That is the National Labor Relations Board. Ask for information about forming a union. You can force the UFC to give deserving contenders title fights. You will get better pay. You can put pressure on the NSAC and other athletic commissions to produce better judges, change the judging criteria, and get better refs. You have the power. It will give the fighters a voice to make changes on any and everything in the sport. Just look up the power of other major sports unions. Look up the profit sharing numbers of the UFC vs other major sports. You guys are getting a raw deal. And again, you have the power to change it.

And it's easy.
All you need to do is sign a union card. And it is illegal for the UFC to retaliate in any way. You will get reinstated and receive compensation for lost wages if they cut you.

The weirdest thing that Dana said during this clip was "Conor doesn't believe that Khabib vs Tony will happen, so he wants to fight at 170, cut weight, then be ready to slide in as a replacement"

That makes no sense. Preparing for a 155 fight with a 170 fight.

If anything this is just further indication that Conor perhaps chose 170 because he knows that he knows he can lose and still slide in as a replacement for the 155 title, by claiming the 170 loss didn't count towards that division, he wasn't himself etc, now he's back to 155 and better than ever.

I've said this before and people seem to think I'm crazy, but honestly, it's complete bat-shit insane to think that an enormous company like WME and the UFC are going to let a contractor set a precedent about how they run their business, especially when that contractor has hinted heavily at not even fighting for much longer.

Lol go fuck yourself.

The reason is theres not a fignters union yet, is the same reason theres not a hedge fund analysts union.

People who believe they are the best at what they do will always gravitate towards a field where the best are paid out royally. A union will decrease payouts for the top guys.

Fighters generally dont become fighters because it's a safe and stable profession. They do it because they're competitive and want the rewards at the top.

If thats what they want, they can stipulate that in the union contract.

Right now mma profit sharing is lower than any other sport. The top guys can make as much or more and every one else can make more too if that is what the fighters want. And I agree, that's a good model for fighting, but my opinion shouldn't matter, the fighters should.

I think the other sports have an easy answer to that too: endorsement deals. Get rid of reebok and let guys get that lebron nike money.

If dana tries to strongarm khabib and disrespect him he's more than likely gonna retire especially since he's floated the idea multiple times already
