I don't think that's a controversial statement form Frank's manager. Some of what the UFC does (long term image rights) would be Ali Act violations because legally those are more in line with what a manager does. Not to mention the UFC clearly acted like a manager during May/Mac.

Also, keep in mind how much managers suck up to the UFC and fuck over their own fighters. There's ample evidence of that.

Derrick Lewis's manager said Ngannou's team turned down the September date. So at this point it comes down to which manager you believe. I'm not sure why Lewis's manager would lie, they would much rather fight Francis for the real belt.

The obvious reasons would be they want to make Lewis look like a badass, "oh, Ngannou is ducking us, my guy is the rightful champ." Or just Lewis' management seeing profit in sucking up to the UFC and siding with them.

Or just on their record, resume and performances alone. Frank will never surpass one of the heavyweight goats in Fedor. Sadly he will never be bigger than Big Nog or Brock either. Francis has KO power but so do most heavyweights. Ngannou has more followers than BB on IG but in terms of views and interaction black beast has him covered on that social media front. So wtherer thats from fake followers on Ngannous side or what thats left to be decided. IMO BB has bigger star potential than Ngannou due to the fact that he can speak english, hes funny, and talks shit all at the same time.

He's not there yet, but he fits the archetype of a HW destroyer, that's pretty rare in combat sports. Think like a Mike Tyson-lite. The UFC also wants to expand into France and the Middle East, and Ngannou would be very useful for both, former because he lived there, latter because of proximity to African time zones.

Having said that the UFC fucked up by not striking when the iron was hot and feeding Jon Jones to Ngannou, that's the quickest way to make a star, have them beat a star.

Ngannou complained(rightfully so imo) a TON the last couple years because of the inactivity of the champion. First thing he does after becoming champion is pick-n-choose who he wants to fight. Dude has taken zero damage since his first Stipe fight 3.5 years ago. He should look at Usman & Izzy and how being active has allowed them to become stars.

I'm a big fan of Ngannou but Dana White will always be the GOAT of MMA.

I am glad the UFC scheduled an interim fight for August. Ngannou said he would fight in September, but who knows if he'd pull out at the last minute? The UFC must have sensed that he was hesitant.

If Lewis and Gane are game, then they deserve the fight. Hopefully, the winner will face Ngannou before 2021 is over. I think the UFC is trying to send a message to champions that they can't just fight once or twice a year.

I think the UFC is trying to make champions fight at least twice a year and ideally three times a year. They don't want Ngannou turning into another Stipe and fighting once a year. They need to send a strong message now.

Yeah, and putting champs on there takes them out for 6 months or so, which is already longer than what Volk needed to get over Covid likely. Especially given that they would prefer Ortega win. There are plenty of other fighters they could have put on TUF to coach who aren't champs.

It's possible but I very much doubt it. and I haven't seen the numbers on it so I suspect it's more anecdotal your feeling.
