Dan Hooker rips UFC over canceled tickets: ‘I’m not going to break my back for a company that doesn’t respect me’

Okay. And now Dan wants to sit out.

Is there really anything useful to anyone to hurting fighter relations with the guys who make you money, over an event that's irrelevant in the grand scheme of things?
Now wants to sit out! lol that’s how he ended up in the situation he’s crying about

Dan's a guy you can put in Fight Night main event, on a PPV main card or co-main right now.

He's been in the company 11 years. He's a Top 10 fighter. He's always done his job, for the most part.

If you're running a business, it's probably better to not act like a total asshole to the people who can make you money. Even when they fuck up. Though, this isn't any sort of major fuck up.

How much of a dick do people want to be, when their best employees screw up? Don't you still want to make money?

Do we know if attending that event was apart of the agreement for Dan getting the tickets to the event? If so I can kind of understand why they cancelled his tickets.

The way Dan blew it off after flying twenty hours to get there you would think this wasn't communicated properly.

Dan fucked up. But look, it's Dan Hooker. <lmao>

I expect the other side of this equation to be more mature adults.

Everybody involved in this is a child.

This I can 100% agree with. At the same time though it's the UFC, they've been doing childish shit like this for a long ass time.

The only one being a total asshole is Hooker.

Dan is probably on the more knowledgeable side, surprisingly.

Even as Hooker aired his grievances with the promotion he’s called home since 2014, he also praised the UFC for its business acumen. Right now, it has a popular champion at the top lightweight division in Topuria, and a number of potential challengers lining up for his first defense of that title.

Hooker explained how this scenario is by design.

“The UFC is smart as f*ck,” Hooker said. “They never paint themselves into a situation where there’s a clear No. 1 contender that has to fight for the belt next, because if they’re ever in that situation, then negotiations obviously become very difficult for them. If the fans are 100 percent locked and expecting there’s only one guy that makes sense for the title, you think when they sit down and negotiate, the UFC’s in a strong position?

“Now they’ve got [Justin] Gaethje that they can have, they’ve got Arman that still they’ve said doesn’t but he does still make sense for the title. Paddy Pimblett could step up because he’s got f*cking beef coming out of his ears. So they always have in a title fight situation three guys that could justify title shots because then if they have one guy, they go to the first guy, he starts playing hard ball, then they can go to the second guy, they can go to the third guy, then they can go back to the first guy. At the end of the day it’s business and the fight that makes the most dollars makes the most sense for the UFC.”
lol the author penning this so it seems like Hooker was praising them. He's calling them scumbags not actually praising their "business acumen"

Both are true IMO. You can praise scumbaggery as business acumen as 85% of business acumen is scumbaggery.

Yeah they could have communicated it more clearly if him not showing up is where things went wrong. I still think Dan not going was a selfish move though. The UFC did him a favor with those tickets the least he could have done is shown up as a thank you even if it wasn't communicated he had to go. The UFC aside, having someone do you a favor and then just refuse to do something that they ask of you after the fact is kind of ethically shitty so I can't say I feel bad for him.

Seems like a better example of what a nightmare it is manage employees. This guy missed weight, this guy pulled out, that guy doesn't want to fight on this card, this guy agreed to do a media event they set up for him then decided that 7:30am is just too early as a 35 year old man so he no showed and slept in.

Solid analysis.

The UFC is a global brand -- but the Vegas Mothership is not big.

So word about Dan is gonna get around those Office Spaces pretty quick.

Poor Dan the Man not feeling the love, as the Baldfather rewrites his role...
