Tim is one of the ATG's in the HW division, so what if Randy beat him. Last I checked Randy's record is something like 18-10.

Just because you were busy watching Brock kissing Kurt Angle then doesn't mean all of Sylvia's career doesn't count.

The Kimbo Slice that beat Tank and Ray Mercer was a completely different animal than the one who fought Roy Nelson and Pink Hair Guy. I think he took dives in those fights. Slice already had a name so kimbo was forced to lose so Roy could also make the UFC some money in the future. I think Kimbo will come back and destroy someone.

There is no evidence in existence that suggests that a shoot, and particularly one from a Greco-Roman wrester (as opposed to a Freestyle wrestler, lol) works most of the time against someone with world class boxing skills.

If you know of an example, I’m all ears.

Naturally, anything can happen and there’s a first time for everything, but the mechanics of it work like this:

A punch travels about 4 to 6 times the speed of the very fastest shoot. Its thigh and calf muscle pushing 200 pounds forward vs. shoulder and arm muscles moving a fist.

When the punch is being thrown by anyone not good enough to make a living at it, that speed differential isn’t very important.

But when a real, honest to God pro boxer is the one throwing the punch, there is an excellent chance that it will land where intended and end the fight immediately once it gets there; and it so happens that there is evidence in existence of that.

If Randy Couture can find a way to increase the speed of his takedown to x4 as fast as any takedown in history, and he can do it before Friday, he’ll win.

If he can’t, then by being a wrestler in a fight, he’ll find that he’s brought a slingshot to a tank battle.

james toney challenged himself to a mixed martial arts contest and randy was simply there to oblige him. what toney does in mma has no reflection on boxing. similarly, a wrestler`s failure in mma has no reflection on amateur wrestling.

Definitely. As soon as you see someone call a 'shot' a 'shoot' you have found someone that doesn't know a thing about wrestling. He also must not have known that before Couture was a Greco specialist he was an NCAA D1 All-American.
