Celebrities tend to wear lifts to make themselves appear taller. Just look at Sylvester Stallone, isn't he like 5'5? Yet in the Expandales 3 party in Australia, he was taller then Arnold.

Height does matter (literally).

In the case presented in the gif. that you posted, Cormier benefited from the advantage that a lower base of gravity awards to the shorter wrestler in close-quarter takedown pursuits.

Height matters in that it has certain advantages.

Just as you point out being stalky and thick matters as it gives you certain advantages.

Why people act like being tall and lanky is a magic no skill body build is beyond me when the history of this sport top date shows it is a generally a disadvantage to be overcome with higher skill level.
