Media Cyrille diabate : "As soon as the fight started, i knew Gane wasn't his normal self"

I made a post of Gane thro.. fight and it got deleted. This is the start of the truth comming to light.

Gane has a tendency to start slow, circling around and observing, almost from the back seat. He seems to need that first couple of minutes to really get in fighting mode.

Jones brilliantly exploited that by putting a lot of pressure immediately, leaving him no space at all to breathe, no time to analyze or think. Gane was out of his comfort zone and made huge mistakes.

Very smart from Jones and big flaw to correct on Gane's side.

I heard Hunter Campbell gave Cyril a briefcase full of $5M cash when Cyril signed the contract. Can't confirm though.

Too much talk of goat and goat wrestling may have instilled sense of panic.

I listened to the whole interview. Cyrille and Worin are good guys, they gave Lopez and Gane a lot of leeway and their criticism wasn't too harsh. Also they criticized the french fan as being fairweather fans. That being said during the 2 and half hours they try their best not to mention Lopez too much but they keep making subtle references to him and how much they dislike him

At some point Diabate clearly hints that Lopez approached some of his fighters and tried to poach them to his camp. Real scumbag move

He poached Kevin Petschi and Papou Lele

That’s what happens when the company protect me a fighter they think will be a money maker, he gets exposed eventually. In this case Gane was only matched with strikers.

Yea I don’t get the “Jones didn’t look good on the feet”, he looked like he always does early on. He made Gane super uncomfortable and put great pressure on him. We didn’t have much to go on there but he was winning on the feet is the only accurate conclusion. His success on the feet is what gave him the opening.

Cyrille Diabate, ex UFC fighter and muay thai world champ, wasn't expecting this outcome before Jones Gane fight :

"I assumed he would play his usual fencing style, on his toes, trying to prevent Jones from getting his hands on him. The first seconds of the fight, i noticed how flat footed he was, not moving, and i didn't recognize his style. I thought "it's going to be a long night". Then he threw a left, and Jones went immediately to his right to take his back. That was genius from Jones, no doubt."

"Except from this slick move, i didn't find Jones impressive on the feet. I thought he was slow. What shocked me was the lack of defensive wrestling / grappling from Gane. He made technical mistakes that are not usual coming from him. I think it was a mental thing."

Well, i gues many sherbros, who have tons of fighting experience, won't agree with this analysis, but what we can take from this is Jones incredible mental toughness. The guy was out for a long time and came back in a heavier weight class with fire in his eyes. Gane looked like a fish out of water for sure

He's right, it was mental. I've said something similar pre-fight and I felt like that would be the difference in the fight. Gane only views himself as an athlete while Jones views himself as a real fighter and martial artist. Compare what Jones is thinking and saying pre-fight compared to Gane. Gane was just happy to be there and Jones was there hunting like a predator. Listen to what Jones was saying. Big difference in mentality and in fighting that makes a difference. Fighters with athlete mentality will always lose to fighters like Jones. They will also be intimidated by fighters like Jones - which Gane was. Gane doesn't have the killer instinct to fight someone like Jones.

Blaming the mental game.

Maybe it is the result of only training while in camp, even though his ground game is basically nonexistent?

Just, maybe?

That jones just keeps getting lucky over and over and over and over and over and over and over again
There's nothing lucky about PED's. Maybe he was lucky that he didn't get caught more, he didn't get caught hiding under the cage.

Not sure why people in this thread have a problem with what Diabate is saying lol. Gane was not moving like he usually does, and Jon did fight brilliantly, as he stated a couple times.
People get triggered by anything Jones* and Gane-related. It doesn't matter to them what Diabate is saying, they're just here to state their opinions (which is their right, as I am also stating my opinion; it just doesn't make for a constructive conversation).

Did you watch the fight? Is it hard to believe that Cyril's mental game was off that night?

"Maybe it was the result of only training while in camp"? What does that even mean?

I don’t know if he was on or off. But a cpl weeks out I heard the “I don’t train unless I have a fight scheduled”. “I’m too lazy”. I really thought it might be gamesmanship.

NOPE.

One year removed from Ngannou and it didn’t look like the guy trained tdd, or wrestling at all. Which of course he didn’t.

I believe it was after the Jones fight. I saw a clip where this clown was bragging about being number 64 in the world on an online soccer game.

My jaw dropped. 8 million people every month play that game. Do you realize how many hours you’d have to play just to become that good? And then how many hours you’d probably have to play to maintain a rank like that?

Yo.. It’s not like you got two cracks at the undisputed title in the span of about a year.

So why worry about something so mundane as tdd, and wrestling when you’re trying to become number 1 in the world at an actual combat sport?

I was floored. That 12 hrs a day you’re playing a video game. Would probably be time better spent in a gym actually improving the weakest part of your game. Imagine if he put that effort into his mma training.

And that’s not his coach’s fault either. You can’t force adults to do the right thing.

I have zero expectations for him now. He might get the belt at some point or not. But don’t expect me to give a shit about a guy that would rather play a video game than become the UFC HW champion.

I don’t give a shit what happens to him now. He can retire for all I care. I’m not here to watch these guys stream video games on Twitch or some shit.

Btw.. Stipe, and DJ won their undisputed belts. They can do whatever the hell they want.

I’ve never heard of anything this ludicrous before. If the goal is to get paid to play video games. Retire from mma. And do whatever you want. But don’t waste my time, son.

Imagine if Gane had beaten Ngannou, and Jones. But, online soccer is his priority, apparently. I’m not even going to talk about the guy unless I hear of a MASSIVE shift in his attitude, and priorities. And, I believe that’s completely fair.

its true,he was scared of the takedown, and was being sloppy w his entries and exits.

The French surrendered? No way!

“I didn’t find Jones impressive on his feet in the 120 seconds it took for him to utterly humiliate a guy I thought would fight better”.
Hey we all can’t impress like your four UFC wins against
Chad Griggs
Tom DeBlass
Steve Cantwell
