Pssh, how much does the average person spend on a TV just to watch programs in HD? $500 ain't shit.

That was essentially the same case this gen. The consoles were obsolete to the premium PC rigs, before they even launched. Did that kill the console market? Obviously not. Very few people give a shit. If it runs and looks fine enough, that's all that matters. The "little details" are for the hardcore nerds. Most people don't notice, and don't care. If they did, consoles would not be a thing. Certainly not the thing leading the industry.
My point isn't to kill the console market. It serves a great purpose. Like when my PC died a few years ago and I was relegated to buying a PS4 slim for $200 on black friday. It was a great deal - got the free games with PS plus, browser works, etc. And I understand that the "average" gamer doesn't understand what they're missing. But *my* point is that once you see the light, you don't wanna go back to the darkness.

I've "seen the light", as have most people. It's not a big deal, unless you fancy yourself a pro gamer that absolutely needs those extra frame rates, and whatnot. The only time I ever given a shit, is when PC's were running games that consoles simply weren't capable of running. That's not the case anymore, which is a big reason why consoles still dictate the market. The option is there for anyone who cares, but...not many people care. It is what it is. If you think it's absolutely vital to your personal experience, that's fine. Most don't believe it's all that vital, though. Even after they've been given a presentation of the differences.

PC gamers think that comparing all the little details today, is like comparing an NES to a PS4. That's just not the case. For most people, the differences are negligible.

You haven't even experienced an SSD unless it was on some friend's computer. That alone should show how much farther we've been compared to consoles, and the advantage going forward.

If you don't think 1-5 seconds vs. 30+ loading times is vital, or that 60-120fps maxed out vs 30fps medium is vital, then I dunno what to tell you. Some prefer to be peasants.

And there it is. Facts disagree with your assertions, so..."you sound poor".

It's simply not a big deal to most. I don't know what other proof you're looking for. The Nintendo Switch wouldn't be shit, if the masses cared about that stuff. All that matters to people is if they are enjoying the games they're playing. Further improving that experience by tightening up some technical presentation details, is for hardcore nerds and pro gamers. The rest couldn't care less. That's all there is to it.

Not a big deal to me, either. You keep replying to me so I double down on why PCness is next to Godliness.

It's obviously got it's advantages. They're negligible to most people, though. That's all I'm saying. It's not some universal truth, that if only people would experience PC gaming, they would make the switch. Many people have seen it, and experienced it. Many people don't give a fuck.

I can agree that most don't care, usually through ignorance and financial needs. If one has never experienced it, or if they can't afford it, then it "isn't that big of a deal." So for the average person, sure. But those are typically xbox COD bros or someone that thinks they're a gamer but haven't seen the light yet. Regardless, I don't care about that though. There is no comparison between a shitty 4k TV and a proper gaming monitor. That was my initial post :P

Or....not giving a shit because the differences are negligible.

This isn't a new sentiment. It's not "COD bros", or "Xboxers", or whatever other nonsense you want to justify it with. It's simply not a big deal to most people. You're not talking PS1 vs PS4, in terms of technical power. The differences aren't so great, that it's going to make people care, and go out and buy a PC rig.

"Thinks they're a gamer"...Christ, I can smell the Mountain Dew and Cheeto dust coming from your posts. Sorry that few care to play on a "proper" gaming monitor, and are just fine with their "shitty" 4K setup. My God...

The differences are not negligible. Maybe if you're a casual gamer who likes to play mobile games, but are you actually saying that 60fps 1440p vs 30fps 1080p or that 5 seconds loading vs. 30+ seconds loading, is negligible? Because they aren't.

Dude, most of your posts are in the WR and video game forum. Don't try to "nerd" me, Canuck.

"Horrible" is quite the stretch. It's fine.

The average gamer isn't concerned about those minor details. That's hardcore nerd shit.

No, it is horrible if you go from "amazing" to "meh." You just haven't known the difference.

Aren’t these monitors like 30 inches at best ?
Can’t imagine what playing on what’s essentially an iPad to me compared to my 55”.

Size matters.

I cannot discern any difference between 1080p and 4K,
Personally, either resolution is perfectly fine with me. Would rather game on 1080p with the graphical settings up to Ultra and 90FPS, rather than 4K with medium/low settings and under 60FPS.

nor any difference between 30 fps vs 60 fps.

Ummm..... trust me, there's a HUGE difference between 30 and 60, especially if what you're playing is very fast-paced (like a FPS shooter) or a fighting game.

If you could see a fast-paced game running at 30FPS on one side of a monitor and 60FPS on the other you'd be able to tell a big difference.

1440P and 60FPS shound be the minimum standard.

Not to say this is the issue with @TheWorm but I think a lot of people don't see a difference because they're looking at the pixels to see if it looks better like with resolution.

It's all about the movement. 30fps always comes off looking choppy especially after looking at 60fps which comes off much smoother.

Just watched a few minutes of the video. I guess I see the difference between 30fpw and 60fps, but I find the difference pretty negligible, it’s just a bit of a smoother flow, and nothing that’s much of a big deal to me.

I guess I come from a different era. I remember playing Quake 3 at a steady 15-20 fps back in the day because my Pentium II 350 MHz with 32 mb of ram and an Nvidia TNT 2 could barely handle it. I had to set it so all players had the same model and ply at I think 640x480 (maybe 800x600) and I could barely ever make it to 30fps. So once you hit that 30fps mark anything above it just becomes superfluous to me.

If you saw two monitors playing the same game at 30FPS and 90FPS and you said the difference is negligible, there'd be something very wrong with you.

I played Witcher3 on PC around 60FPS, max settings, and later on PS4 at 30FPS and whatever the default settings are.

The difference was HUGE.

Well, maybe there is something wrong with me. I’ve got mad myopia and astigmatism, and have been wearing corrective lenses since I was six years old. I’ve also never been able to make one of these 3d puzzles work for me even once in my entire life.

maybe it’s a schooner. I literally don’t know
