And the ones that do have powerful computers like myself then go and start playing League of Legends 10 years after it releases. I know people who would love to play PC games but simply have a shit pc and can't. Consoles are great for the ease. PC's are spending a lot of money to keep it top level even if you don't need to.
Yep.. which is why I keep trying to find RTX 3080s in stock to buy.. even though I have a 2070 Super and it runs all my games just fine....

At the same time, most overtime in the gaming world is barely paid, while they are forced by Polish law to pay everyone extra for their time. AFAIK, the crunch time is from the email until release (Nov 19), so alittle over a month and a half of crunch. Not ideal, but hopefully they can all get that deal where they can get a percentage of sales from the product. They said the game is finished, now they need to fix all of the bugs. It was either this, or push the release date back *again*. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision.
The thing that a lot of people don’t seem to know from this story is that this is just the official announcement of the required OT. The person who leaked the email said this has, in actuality, been going on for as long as 15 months for some of the departments.

Six weeks isn’t a big deal at all. 15 months of crunch is.

I have a 2070 Super and have no real reason to upgrade, but it's nice to know that there will be a semi-cheap 3070 if I ever feel the need.

They brought it upon themselves by trying to get good PR by saying they would stop this only to find out it never stopped. Fuck them.

Yeah, the problem is COVID-19 happened.

And its not 'CRUNCH' as compared to Bioware's endless crunches that caused employees to break down mentally and quit the industry, they have to work an extra 8-hour day a week.

Oh the humanity! They're practically slaves to their employers!

Meanwhile, Bioware employees...

It has been a near endless crunch according to the employee who leaked the communication.

They should’ve just exploited their employees in silence and shut up about it like every other major dev.

Or hired on additional employees and then fired them as soon as development was finished.

This stuff is a bit of a cause for concern, but I'm not ready to put them on the same level as EA.

We should still treat EA differently because of all the shit they've pulled in the past. They frequently release unfinished games and charge for the finished product as DLC, along with terrible business practices like nickel & diming players, abusing loot boxes, micro transactions, Season passes, and a multitude of hidden fees added to their games.

This hasn't been the case with prior CDPR games. The Witcher 3 was a monster of a game itself, and then came with 16 free DLC updates post launch. The expansions added in after were all worth every penny and then some. There's really no reason, at least right now, why we can't assume the same quality from Cyberpunk based on what CDPR has delivered in the past.

Psst....

Every single gaming company does this. Not every single gaming company has a high profile game coming out that Youtubers and bloggers want to find a reason to complain about, because it gets them clicks.

Controversy creates cash.

I'm not at all outraged by the crunch if they are being fairly compensated. For me it's the accumulation of delays, the wonky looking combat, the devs ackowledging they need to polish the combat, to them admitting to a crunch this late in development to now just deciding to wait it out for the actual next gen version which not only hopefully perform better but also miss many of the launch bugs.

what combat looks wonky? Is it the first person melee combat? I’ve been trying to avoid watching most videos other than a minute or two here and there.

I thought it all looked wonky but the devs specifically mentioned the melee needing work. It just has this disconnected look like you're watching a movie where the actors are playing a fake game.

Once you get spoiled from 60+fps, 30fps seems like it's in slow motion.

I place more value in framerate than resolution. The difference between 30 and 60fps for me is a big deal whereas 1080p and 4k isn't something i notice that much. I tried it in some quite demanding games but the graphics were pretty either way and the 4k resolution dropped my framerate below 30.

Yea I have no faith in FP melee combat. Even games that pull it off it's still not that good when compared to melee combat across all games with different 3rd person view, overhead. etc. It's always been the worst view when it comes to melee combat. I'll be sticking to stealth\guns for this game.

I quickly looked at some gun gameplay. Looks good to me. I'd have to really play it though to know.

Yeah, the camera is just not up for the job, unfortunately. It's always disorienting and frantic, going all the way back to "Mirror's Edge". Some games do it better than others, but none are perfect. I think that's something that VR could remedy.

Arkane are pretty much the only ones to pull it off in Dark Messiah and Dishonored.
