Critique my low kicks

Don't worry, in fact you explained it pretty clearly ;)

Gonna try this tomorrow... Today after the regular training I did two three min rounds of jab > low kick working on the upper body over the hips!

To be honest I felt quite uncomfortable, but it should be just a matter of habit

its not too much different than what you are doing now , but the timing of the kick to finish the whip ,,, check out another thread in the standup section about " practicing teeps " there is a video of a guy kicking the bag , see how he uses the whip to finish the kick , its beautiful, i dont have time to post it for you as i have to go to my workout now myself , peace out

You can hop into it as well. It's okay to lean with low kicks but from my understanding leaning with mid ranged and high kicks leaves off balance when you connect or miss.

What you really need to work on are your body kicks. At work right now, but i'll try to help when i get home.

In the meantime here's a video of a power lowkick, done by one of the best lowkick fighters right now in Thailand, 126 pounds of pure power, KOs most of his opponents via lowkicks. Unlike alot of westernized Muay Thai fighters as well as the dutch, most Thais who fight in their native country don't throw alot of lowkicks compared to bodykicks and if they do they are more of a distraction.... but pornsaneh throws lowkicks to hurt his opponents, and he does it well.

Take note of the step, the pivot, the bending of the support leg and the crouching, that's where the power and speed comes.

Also note that this is a different kick from the trademark dutch k-1 chopping/whipping close range lowkick, which is usually done after an inside boxing combination in k-1 rules (something that isn't done so much in Muay Thai because if you're in inside boxing range, you're already clinch wrestling and throwing knees and elbows).... Particularly the angle is different.

Thanks for sharing that. That is one of the better instructional vids i have seen........ that is one nasty low kick. Makes me cringe just thinking about having a shin across the thigh like that..... nice!

Also I will be looking forward to your tips on my body kicks
