Critique my low kicks

I was taught the more dutch style with a chopping motion. If you're aiming for that, which I'm not sure if you are or not, you'd be wanting to bring your knee up a bit higher in the kick and hitting the thigh on a downward angle rather than horizontal.

The Thai style of low kicks is alot more of a chopping motion than Dutch, no?

huum

I was tryin to look like a thai fighter, can't remember the name of the guy, but he was kicking pretty horizontal, and also pivoting 180

Hey man I remember you from your excellent sparring vid.

Good kicks - be aware of leaving your face unprotected when kicking and it doesn't look like you are stepping off centre. Someone could take the leg kick and counter you with a hard right cross or right hook.

Good luck!

Hey bro, thanks =)

by stepping off centre you mean taking a little step to my left WHILE kicking or right before?

I'm uploading a vid of my brother doing some kicks... I think he's doing the stteping off centre thing...

gonna post it here in some minutes ;)

Yeah it's just a small step out at about 45 degrees right before you throw the kick.
It adds power to the kick and gets you out the way should the other guy try and counter with punches.

The MT guys can explain it better - this was just something that was drilled into me when I was training before switching to boxing.

Kick looks good, I'd put some more focus on bringing your guard back and protecting your face during the kick in case someone is looking to counter with a punch.

little step and cover face.
the little step brings your whole body into it, bend your front leg that is the post leg more and you will get more weight in the kick.
kick through it more also.
kick it like you hat it with a passion, like you want to kill it.

Nice speed and impact from the launch to the initial position , nice hips movement .

My advice : make sure your lead foot remain at all time solid on the ground when you execute the heel rotation to deliver it even when you execute it with a small step forward or a switch step , the hips comes forward and add power to it which will also prevent it to be too circular .

Second point don't forget to throw your back hand in a cross like movement , too often i saw some not all but some low kick throwed with the back hand down and the fighter got knocked from a counter .

All of that will also help you deliver the more dutch style form people above talked about and the small outside step form , good shape and sick power keep up the good work and kudos to you .

Cannot echo the sentiments of the 45 step off. Pivoting on the spot leaves you open to punch counters.

I would work on both angles of the kick (chopping or across) as each is situational relative to distance.

Keep up the good work.

First, pretty good over all

-Protect your face with your lead hand. Even more than a usual kick.
-Keep your heel on the ground. When you step in, and open your foot up, thats where you get your turn from. If its a fully committed leg kick, you take a big step in
-Chop down as best you can. Sometimes you can and you have to hit square but chopping down is what will stop your opponent.

Maan, I'm so thankful for all the tips!

but some thing are confusing me... the whole keeping my feet solid on the ground is opposed to pivoting on the ball of my foot, which is what gives me the speed, isn't?

ps.: sorry if my english is crap ;p

Actually not bad. Need to keep hands up though and snap leg backs after kicking. You're currently leaving yourself to a lovely counter.

You're currently leaving yourself [open] to a lovely counter.
I agree.
As Duke Roufus says "however fast you throw the kick, bring it back twice as fast" (or something like that.

Another thing I learned about low kicks - don't assume it's gonna stop the guy. Plenty of guys are conditioned enough to take it in their stride and still fire off some offense.

Purple Haze,

Your brothers foot...thats actually how you should look on a low kick. His second and third kick with his feet on the ground and barely pivoting.

ts has better kicks that me. i cant critique. im guessing you are telling your brother to keep his hands up?
