Lots of articles confirming they have agreed to fight

Not sure what to make of this, i think Crawford is way too small to fight Canelo, if he built himself up a bit and gave him time to grow into the weight, that would be fine, but just jumping up and fighting is a disaster waiting to happen

Canelo is older and not the same guy he was a few years ago.
But I can see it being a complete disaster for Crawford.

seems like a bit of a cash out fight to me, he will get paid handsomely for it, but he will take a Brook-Golovkin style beating for that payday

not a fan of fighters just jumping up weights thinking they can take on good fighters, weight classes are there for a reason, i think Crawford struggled a bit when he fought at 154, so him jumping up even further is just a bad idea boxing wise

Definitely not like Canelo-Charlo. Crawford got that dog in him and he'll never acquiesce like Charlo.

It's possible he gets outgunned but Crawford knows what he is doing just like Floyd knew what he was doing. They are both catching Canelo off his very peak (where he would have beaten both fighters)

In fact, I see this just like Benavidez: 70% in Crawford's favor.
 
I give Crawford a shot but he'll probably be too outgunned. He didn't look dominant in his last fight at 154, granted it was only the first time he competed there, but jumping up another 2 weight classes immediately after? That doesn't sound like a very good idea. For as physically strong as Crawford is, so is Canelo. The latter also hits a lot harder and has a granite chin even if he isn't the same fighter he was several years ago.

It's also worth pointing out that the 2 guys that actually managed to beat Canelo (officially), Mayweather & Bivol, were the least hit fighters in the sport. They were great defensively. Crawford has good defense but he's not close to them in that department.

that's a good point about the defense. for me, it comes down to intelligence and intangibles. i think Madrimov is much better than people give him credit for. one thing I've seen in Canelo is that he doesn't show the willingness to make the fight ugly. he is an aesthetic fighter and generally fights clean. to beat guys like Mayweather, Bivol and Crawford you have to be willing to get ugly and look ugly in there (eating punches to get off). not saying Canelo can't do it, but i'm not sure he will.
 
the biggest obstacle for Crawford is he's facing one of the most gifted fighters in all of boxing, not just in terms of talent but benefaction from the judges.

one judge scored it a draw against Mayweather; Canelo lost by a round vs. Bivol (who needed the 12th round to avoid a draw), not to mention the decisions vs. Golovkin I, Lara, Trout

if Crawford doesn't win by at least 2-3 rounds, he is losing

Yeah, Madrimov is a lot better than people gave him credit for including myself. I thought he'd have been too inexperienced to mount a serious challenge to Crawford but it didn't play out that way. When fighters move to a new weight class they should get acclimated first. Crawford has decided to forgo that here when it almost cost him against Madrimov in his last fight. I don't think that's a smart move. I have to go with the guy that's as proven as it gets at SMW. That's one of the reasons why Canelo is the betting favorite to win.
 
I was just looking at the odds. Bovada has Canelo as only a slight favorite currently. I didn't think they'd be so close. They give Canelo a 53% chance of winning and Crawford a 47% chance. Basically, the current odds suggest that it's more or less a 50/50 fight.
 
I'll take it... Huge fight is huge.

I gotta say, I thought he looked pretty tentative for about 8 rounds of his fight with Madrimov and madrimov wasn't really doing anything special in there at all. It took him a lot of rounds to find his rhythm in that one.

Choose SD2025-Dark and it’s a significant improvement of formatting especially in mobile. It’s a temp fix, but finally some damn...
