Crawford has no chance against Canelo

BTW, I agree Crawford is a very good fighter. I just have never thought his resume was much to talk about. Maybe he will win on Saturday, I actually favor him in a lot of ways in this one, but I think Canelo is a much different beast than anything Crawford has been in with before.

I think Canelo has a punchers chance but I also think Bud could just outclass him like Khan was before the KO.

I don’t think he catches Bud like that either. It could be clinical if Canelo can’t land a big shot.

i see nothing that Crawford does that will stop Canelo just driving forwards and working the body/head while in close

i'm not really a fan of either fighter and don't really follow them too closely, but has Canelo regressed that much that people think Crawford may beat him, a guy jumping up 2 weights fighting a solid puncher?

i was originally on the Crawford has no chance, but i am having doubts now, some of the analogies people making are fucking stupid though

It could very well end up just being Canelo driving forward and battering him.
But hes declined enough over the last 4 years that it makes the fight interesting.

Crawford has a chance, don’t be ridiculous. Berlanga, Munguia, and Ryder… you don’t think Crawford could have beaten them and possibly stopped them too? I think he wasn’t acclimated to 154 enough for Madrimov, but I think in a rematch he runs away with it.,,, he has a damn good chance

I dont know. Ryder is strong as hell. Berlanga is big and Munguia is big and would hit Crawford harder than hes ever been hit. Crawford would have issues with all of them. Including BJS and Plant.
And he would definitely lose to some of them.

Crawford is more skilled than those three but those guys are obviously much bigger and probably physically stronger than him. Berlanga in particular is a big boy. That alone could potentially neutralize Crawford's skill advantage to a degree given the size difference. Canelo managed it because he's used to being outsized. He spars heavyweights.

I've said before, this fight has draw written all over it. Crawford didn't look all that slick against Madrimov or Porter. He's not likely to be faster or more mobile at 168. Honestly, I thought Crawford looked kind of old against MAdrimov.

On the other hand, Canelo, of late, has been far too economical with his punches. Whether thats by design or choice of opponent remains to be seen. Yeah, he looked flat against Scull but Scull wasn't there to fight and Canelo still won that one pretty clean. He throws big eye catching punches and I can't think of anyone Crawford has fought who works the body like Canelo. But then again, Canelo hasn't been fighting guys who are really well rounded like Crawford.

I think it goes 12 and fans on both sides will be mad at the decision, which I think will be a draw. Judges will give Canelo points for aggression and because he goes "hah-hah-hah" when he throws shots and the crowd cheers. Crawford will outbox him at times and land a pretty counter here and there.

I mean, if it's a close fight objectively, then how is Crawford going to get the decision? As everyone knows, Canelo gets favorable decisions (and scorecards even for fights he loses). For this fight to be scored a draw, Crawford would have to basically win 115-113 or even 116-112 in the eyes of most media pundits.

Canelo does receive preferential treatment and has for years. However, I do think that there's some truth to the judges liking his style. He throws everything hard, doesn't waste shots, and is very economical with his movement as well. The other guy can outland him but he'll likely end up connecting on the most telling (eye-catching) shots. He's very much a quality over quantity fighter.

So does Bud

Not regularly he doesn't. Canelo's been sparring them for many years now. Bud's reportedly sparred some heavies but I've never heard any names dropped or seen any sparring clips released.

He said it himself in the last press conference

Is there actual evidence of it? Recently I posted some names and clips of heavyweights that Canelo has sparred. They weren't hard to find. A while back he was even considering moving up to cruiser to challenge Makabu for his title.

You mean like videos of it? I have no idea

But I don't see any reason to doubt it the man can deadlift like 500 lbs he's strong as hell and never been bullied in the ring

Video clips, pics, whatever. I believe that he has sparred some heavyweights based on what guys like Shakur & Nico Walsh have said but I don't think that it's something he does frequently. According to Stephen Breadman Edwards not only does Canelo spar them often he actually holds his own. He wrote this on BoxingScene in one of his mailbags. Makes sense considering that Canelo has fought as high as light heavyweight. When you're fighting that high you're going to be sparring the big boys.

I hear you but it sounds like you are having a hard time fathoming the possibility of Bud being able to hang with the HW's

I guess it's just speculation or something

Smaller fighters occasionally do spar heavies but the big boys instinctively know not to go too hard. Still, they're getting hit by men that are MUCH bigger. It's rough. That's why it surprised me to learn that Canelo does it routinely considering that he started his career at 140 lbs.
