First off, I think pound-for-pound, prime vs prime, Crawford (~2020 at 147) was a better fighter than Canelo (~2024 at 168)

...but Canelo is several years closer to his prime, and his prime was in a division 21 pounds heavier!

You're comparing a prime version of Crawford to a past prime version of Canelo. The latter has shown noticeable decline within the last few years. He hasn't even scored a stoppage in 4 years. Neither is in their physical prime today. Crawford will be 38 at the end of the month. As for Canelo he may be younger in age but not in fight years. He has more mileage on him since he's had more fights and against tougher opposition. Do you know when Canelo turned pro? Twenty years ago. For Crawford it's been 17 years.

based on what?

he's been fighting pro since he was 15. to me, he's looked like he's on a pretty steep decline for a while now.

they're both really good and canelo has fought at a higher weight, but to say crawford has no chance against him is silly.

ray did it vs hagler, crawford might no be ray but hagler was better than canelo, it seems if bud pulls it off everyone already has their excuses ready, excluding ts lol

The only advantage I see Canelo having in this fight is the experience in this not being his first big fight/payday
Ever since Mayweather fight Canelo has been getting paid big numbers and is used to being under the big lights so he is comfortable here but this is the first time Bud has been in a fight of this magnitude and he's getting paid I just hope he's able to put all the noise and everything else aside and go in there on Saturday and get the job done he has the tools he needs to wins this fight

I’m picking Crawford.

I think Canelo is on the slide. He’s not that old but he turned pro very young and has been fighting a long time. I don’t think there’s gonna be a big difference in physical size and I think Crawford has the skills and counter punching to win convincingly. It’s not a fight id put money on but I’m confident in my pick

Canelo has fought a murderers' row in the last 6 years, and yet he's still won -fair and square- 11 of his 12 fights in that period; with his only loss coming against future Hall of Famer Bivol.
Canelo has fought nothing but bums since his loss to Bivol. Do you follow boxing at all?

GGG, Iron Man Charlo and Jaime are bums?
The point is that those were all meant to be squash matches. Golovkin was clearly washed going into the third fight. Many even thought that Derevyanchenko had beaten him.

PS. Nickname aside, nobody calls Jermell Charlo "Iron Man." The Charlo twins are usually referred to by fans as Mell & Mall.

I literally just called him Iron Man, so obviously somebody calls him Iron Man, since I just did.

Iron Man Charlo, Gorilla John (Ryder), GGG (faded), Monster Munguia (decent) are solid wins

The wins aren't bad but none of them were expected to seriously challenge Canelo. Golovkin was so shopworn that many thought Canelo would become the first man to stop him going into the third fight.

and i've seen him decline.

he looked great unifying 168, finishing smith, saunders, plant. i thought he still looked good vs bivol, but was simply facing a bigger, better opponent with less mileage.

but since then? he's looked noticably older. both physically and in his movement, as well as his ability to close the show. the fact that he's declined doesn't mean he's bad now, he was superb when he was in his prime, even slowing down and looking worse means he's still a damn good fighter. but he has deteriorated significantly.

Crawford really didn't look that great against Madrimov . Struggled more than I thought he would with Porter too, though that was a while ago.

but inbetween he looked spectacular against spence.

madrimov's herky jerky style matched pretty badly with bud's but i don't think we'll be seeing the same fight with canelo. i think crawford matches up quite nicely with him.

unless he comes out like charlo and does nothing all night, we should be getting a pretty entertaining fight, stylistically. and i don't think bud is just looking to cash out.

Spence though.... The guy took career ending beatings in multiple car accidents before those fights. I don't think Spence was ever the same after the first one.
