Ted Nugent calls Obama a "subhuman mongrel" and what do republicans do?

Rick Perry: I Don't Think Ted Nugent Calling Obama A 'Subhuman Mongrel' Was Racist

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/07/rick-perry-ted-nugent_n_4921930.html

And people wonder why minorities don't vote republican? Come the fuck on now...

When the republicans choose to distances themselves from racist hate mongers like Nugent, then they might get taken seriously by minorities. Just saying...

This racial dynamic is really weird. On one hand it is the left who is constantly fighting the evils of racism but it is them who insist on injecting it into our policies. Either we are color blind or we aren't. It seems many democrats and people on the left insist on not being color blind.

Why should we be blind? Any intentional blindness seems like a stupid ostrich policy to me.

You're under the mistaken impression that acknowledging race is racist which is a definition so broad that it would essentially include everyone.

Racism is the belief in racial superiority.

Not acknowledging race is just as harmful as actual racism because racial disparities are real and ignoring those disparities to satisfy your faux color-blindness only serves to further entrench those suffering under those conditions.

You're trolling though because there are plenty of threads here in which people on your side (the wing nut side, in case you were wondering) speak negatively about aspects of black culture which is not a very colorblind thing to do and yet you never seem to have a problem with it. You only pull out the color-blind mantra when its convenient.

When you have people like Nugent spewing their bile and FEW (if any) conservatives calling them on it, you can see why the GOP has to resort to Gerrymandering and such to quell the minority vote. You can't insult a race of people saying "Well, they just spit out babies with no fathers!" (Not true BTW). And calling the first minority elected to the highest office in the land a "subhuman mongrel" and expect them to put you in office.

America isn't the land of rich Anglo-Saxon landowner/industrialist anymore. If anything, America is/becoming the land of the multi-cultural (see Tan-skinned) working-class.

And that scares the He// out the conservatives.

I'm not talking about simply acknowledging race. I'm talking about treating people differently and designing policies and ideologies around it.

I'm not really sure what you're going on about here but I don't have a side as I'm pretty independent. But I can tell you that easily the ugliest racist insults and attacks I have seem on this board have come from the left side of things. Easily.

What was the context for the subhuman mongrel comment? Those words alone have nothing to do with race.

Yes, they dominate the social sciences which tend to have fewer job opportunities but who am I to criticize them?

Is this a fucking joke? I can't believe no one called you out on this. The Congo is the rape capital of the world and fathers of children born out of wedlock are not required to pay child support. So yes, they are running around impregnating women and then leaving and they happen to do so without their consent and/or without the responsibility of child support.

EDIT: Their society is collapsing but I suspect it has more to do with the fact that they're involved in the deadliest conflict in half a century.

Exactly^ I can't believe that people in this day and age still buy into "they're lazy, no-good, drug taking" stereotype. What you see plastered all over Fox "news" isn't reality. It's just control to get you to vote a certain way so that they stay in power and keep the money. Go out and speak to people and you'll see what's up.

Every party has it's black sheep. For every Ted Nugent, there's an Al Sharpton.

Oh shit lol. Ok my bad. I didn't read far enough down the list of definitions. I stand corrected.

It was also a generic insult used by older generations having nothing to do with race. Not saying that is how it was intended, but who knows.

To take it a step further, that term was frequently used in the 19th century against non-whites, along with "subhuman" as a way to justify their slavery and exploitation.

It was commonly used against everyone. the only context I've ever heard it in was entirely generic.

No it has always been a phrase used against non-whites. I think it even began in some of the journals left by Columbus and his crew, and continued its legacy into the 20th century with Eugenicist arguments.

I know it was specifically used against non-whites. Even if it has also been used against whites, it carries a huge racialized connotation.

Just do some research into 19th century America and trust me, you'll find it.

It could very well have, even though that would be a strange term in that context. Everyone perceives things differently and not everyone is up to speed on historical uses of words.

It requires mind reading to know for sure about something like that, so it's left up to perception.

The media is naturally going to get as much spin and mileage on it as they possibly can, but at the end of the day who knows.

Guess that's why you have to be very careful when speaking publicly! Perception trumps anything else.

Their is a reason the Bushes courted the Hispanic vote since the 90's. NAFTA mergers with Mexico. Jeb marrying a Mexican. Last Bush President wanting guest worker program from Latin countries that lead to citizenship. They knew the conservative Hispanic vote is the future of the Republican party. Your first Latino President:

George Prescott Bush.
Did Intelligence like his grandpa.

Now I will remove my tin foil hat.

Another Bush! You know he will be well connected

Not exactly. Racism implies, under most definitions, a colonial, genocidal, or imperialist legacy attached to it.

So. .. if you don't have that "legacy", then it is no biggie to believe in racial superiority?
