Covington is 0-3 against elite competition in the UFC

Not true. I know it's fun to shit on Colby right now but he does have some quality wins, just not recently.

Dong Hyun Kim is a really underrated win. He only ever lost to the elite and beat everybody else. DHK only ever lost to guys who either won or contended for UFC titles.

RDA was a great win. Unbeaten at 170 pounds before that fight and was on a tear. He was still elite then and he won 2 rounds in that Colby fight.

Maia was another fantastic win at the time. He was 7-1 coming into that fight, with his only loss being the title fight with Woodley.

After that his resume is subpar, but those wins are fantastic.

I don't care for Colby at all, but he is a hell of a fighter and all people shitting on his ability and resume does is take away from what Leon Edwards was able to do to him.

How many elite wins does Gilbert Burns have, since we can't count the washed guys? Just Neil Magny, lol?

Stun Gun was 36 years old and Colby was his last fight tho. I guess you could say Colby retired him for good.

LW RDA is a good win, but RDA did win 2 rounds and took Colby down 3 times.

While true, Burns is not afraid to mix it up with the new breed to earn another shot. He’s failed, but he works for it.

What does a Colby highlight reel even look like? Pretty grim. Even worse if you can't use footage of him stammering pre-rehearsed insults at disinterested announcers or whatever

This whole idea of him being an elite fighter because he had close fights with Kamaru is complete BS.

RDA was never an elite win for WW. The best thing RDA did was beat over the hill Lawler, I'm a big RDA fan but he was too small for WW. No hate at all towards him, but he just wasn't that great at WW. This was Colby's premier win in his career to get his interim fake belt.

Wins over washed up fighters like Masvidal, Lawler and Woodley don't mean much but all you heard from his braindead fanboys was how he "dominated" his fights even though the competition he fought was total dogshit. A lot of knowledgeable MMA fans casted doubt on his level of competition but for some reason these dipshits couldn't see it.

Dana with his whole line of "If Kamaru wasn't around Colby would be champion" pretty much proves Dana doesn't know shit about MMA nowadays.
Colby has the same wins as Usman. They fought the same opponents back to back and each Usman fight was close. To say he’s not elite is laughable. Go ask Usman if he’s elite or not

He has beaten 1 guy under the age of 35 in the past 7 years. He has a pretty weak resume and his biggest accomplishment is losing to Usman.
Sounds like Gustafsson. As DC said, your biggest accomplishments are two close losses.

I mean his competitiveness in the two Usman fights is why people hold his skill in high regard. He lost but he looked good enough that people still could believe he could be champ with the right oppurtunities. I think that window is closed now though.
Yeah that window is very short as people become more well rounded and hungrier people continue to climb the ladder. Izzy has a good run, Usman had a good run. Jon Jones is an exception….

RDA was ranked number 2, hadnt lost @ WW and it was for the interim title... He was def elite then.

I mean you put RDA in there with Tyron the champ at the time and he wouldve walked through him... Tyron hated pressure

Using RDA was a LW excuse is dumb when weve seen former LWs fight for WW title many times. Burns, Jorge. Likes of Nate, Pettis, Chiesa got ranked @ WW too.

But RDA is Colbys only elite win

Robbie, TWood, Dong, Maia, Max, Barberena are decent to good wins but not elite. Maia was probably closest to elite out of them at the time Colby fought.

His resume up until the first Usman fight was pretty good, but since then he's been one of the biggest rank squatters in the UFC.

While I get that Colby has only fought elite guys for title shots, he's fought the 2 best WWs over the last 5 years a total of 3 times (Usman twice and Edwards). Burns is also 0-3 against elites (Usman, Khamzat, Belal).
