Could Kimbo have success in modern UFC

Seeing how the last champ was a muscular brawler with power and a ground game weakness, it’s fair to say prime Kimbo could’ve been a top contender like Lewis or champ like Ngannou. Kimbo had better hands than Francis or Lewis
Look at Kimbo's actual UFC run and then delete the thread

I never got the Kimbo hype. He got his ass kicked by that Massachusetts cop (who also recently passed away and also fought in the UFC) during his YouTube street fighting days so not sure why the aura didn’t fade away then.

This shouldn't matter but I think the indoor element of it. That's how casuals think.

Problem with Kimbo,
he was already 38 by the time he fougth in the UFC
and had bad knees.

Francis won and defended his title with improved wrestling. He lost to Stipe when his wrestling sucked

I think a younger Kimbo attached to a real camp and discipline would have been a JBG hero in the UFC of that time.

Champion? I don't think so, but I also don't think I would have cared... Must See type fighter he would have been.

Thats not a mistake. He did the move perfectly. Thats how u long switch. He set up the left hook by taking the while front leg all the way back into the opposite stance. The leg kick was supposed butter it up too but did nothing as well.

if he walked bk normally it would be a technical error. But he landed exactly what he aimed for. Francis just has adimantium chin.. and legs… and body…
Nah son, thats literally a basic in boxing, circle out.
You don't just keep moving straight back otherwise just like in the fight you end up with your back on the wall/ropes.
Like I said if his counter actually hurts Francis he doesn't have that problem. He did throw a good counter but you are always supposed to move out of the way laterally if you get pressed or finished your combo.

I do like how Kimbo decided to wear sweatpants in a most likely hot ass gym. I believe one of his fanboys back in the day said this is why he lost oh and the “alleged” mixup on the rules.

I dont know why ur insisting. U can get hit circling out too. What he did was an actual legit and technical move too that you learn in muay thai class as well.
Nobody said he shouldn't circle out, but he got clicked mid combo exchange. He wasnt given the chance to circle out.

Compared to Kimbo Lewis and Frank have better:
Chin
Cardio
Ground game
Overall striking
Timing
Defense
Power
Finnesse
Fight iq
Speed
Athleticism

Kimbo might have had better hands but that only matters so little when he is behind in other areas. And he is behind a lot.

Prime Kimbo? Probably not. I think he could have success in BKFC, Rizin/PFL with the right match ups. If the UFC gave him the Poatan plan, maybe.

Where did I say that he was "super technical"? Don't you think that there is a right balance between "muscular brawler" and "super technical"? Life is either black or white for you?

By your shitty logic any muscular dude from the gym can defeat Bladyes, Gane and Stipe, that's right ?

I’d say from watching Ngannou’s grappling exchanges with Gane that it was pretty poor - compare how a washed Jon Jones did versus Gane

Ngannou obviously has wild power and good timing

The kimbo that fought ray Mercer and was trained by bas rutten could be a top 5 heavyweight with some lucky matchups, he actually had somewhat existent ground game with knowledge of wrestling and subs. Realistically he’s somewhere near Greg Hardy level, prob caps off at top 10-15ish with a limited ground game

Kimbo had the knees of an 80 year old man by the time he made it to the UFC, he had better boxing than what people give him credit for but he wasn't exceptionally powerful or fast. It was a fun ride while it lasted.

Yep ... If he was training rather than street fighting im sure he would've done a lot better. Truth is, he was a tough street fighter with natural ability to throw hands and there's plenty of guys out there like him who don't get the opportunity's like he had.
Probably should've stuck with Boxing from the start.
