That was for a Whittaker fight in Australia. And he’s since signed a new deal “supposedly” making him the highest paid Brazilian on the roster. Or something like that.

How many paydays do these fighers miss by sitting out forever? I don't know why they don't fight as often as they can if they hate their deal so much and then they have negotiating power by fighting out their contract. I don't understand why these fighters sign a deal and then complain and don't want to fight. Fighting 3-4 times a year makes more money than 1 fight every year trying to hold out. Nothing puts you in the best position for titles, money, and fame more than going out and winning a bunch of fights. Last time I checked they aren't negotiating each fight like boxing. It's a multi-fight deal with the terms up front. They know what they're getting into so why they act like it's a surprise they aren't making 100x more every fight is beyond me.

Costa ducking Khamzat and his leftovers. I’m a fan but he makes it hard with shit like this and when he took absolutely no responsibility for not even attempting to make weight against Vettori. Funny part is most just forgave him for that because he became a menace on Twitter

We know what the UFC does - get the cheaper guy to agree, then promote the fight like it’s official, so the guy they actually have to pay has less leverage. Then if the fight falls through the fighter gets blamed for pulling out, when they actually never agreed to fight for those terms. I can’t say I blame him - they paid him like $60K to show/$60k to win against Rockhold lol.

He can just fuck with their business until they actually pay him or cut him - if they cut him he goes to Bellator and makes significantly more to fight worse opposition.

Maybe he’s not interested in “being the best” and wants to just be a “prize fighter,” which is literally the point of the job.

Costa already signed a new deal with the UFC. And according to him, it's a million deal.
